What were the Borg afraid of?

My theory on Q and the Borg is simple. The Borg tested the federation and the Romulans and couldn't be bothered with them. But that star drive they witnessed in Q-Who was something the hell worth assimilating which they mistook for a newly invented human technology. You saw Seven talk about their process in attempting to assimilate Omega, they went to the bother of assimilating low tech, even preindustrial, worlds just beccause they had minor information pertaining to their distant goal in their verbal history.

Picard is the worst pet ever.

He does get up on the furniture pretty often.

I guess what I'm suggesting is that since Q was responsible for introducing the Borg to humans before it was supposed to happen naturally, and the fact that humans had managed to fend them off twice and once again in the past, perhaps he (or the Continuum) would choose to insure that there would be no more tampering with the timeline by the Borg. He would certainly have the power to make that happen.

There was a basket ball player that got into trouble last year for building a dog fighting pit in his back yard or some rot. His defense was that it was part of his culture.

There's no telling how Q will react to a request of aid at any given point, but if he was to fight for the federation, ie flick his fingers and the issue is resolved... he would be a powerful ally, however i beleive that he gets a sense of pride and fulfillment every time "humanity" overcomes some seemingly doomy obstacle.

Q is raising mankind.

If you don't let them fall every one and then they'll never learn how to run.

Now if Kathy had kept one of those muskets that fired supernovas Tom and Harry were running about with during the Q Civil War, that would have changed the outcome of just about every battle man woud have with anyone for the next thousand years.

I hear exactly what you are saying...and agree. I just wonder if because Q started the whole chain of events, he wouldn't have gotten in the Borg's way of coming after the Alpha Quadrant earlier than they should, from behind the scenes.

But to be honest, I'm not all that thrilled with how Voyager handed the follow up of of FC. IMHO it should have been left alone and never mentioned, but hey it was the B & B show. What do you do?

I doubt they were afraid of anything. They probably went to Earth to try and assimilate it in the present. Take out earth now, castrate the federation, and all is good. And they were well on their to doing that until those meddlesome kids... er, I mean Picard showed up. Fortunately, as a back up plan, they had the time-sphere. They then go back in time, not expecting Picard to destroy their ship meant for asismilating earth. As a back up for the back up plan, they worked on the interplexing beacon since they obviously weren't going to get the job done on their own.
