What weapons would you use on the District 9 scifi film's aliens?

Based on what I've read about the plot, I'd rather use my weapons on the humans.

I wouldn't go that far, but I agree -- the aliens are not the villains in this film. It's a film made by a South African director and it depicts alien refugees being segregated into a forced-labor camp; it's a pretty obvious apartheid allegory with the aliens as the oppressed race. Basically a darker Alien Nation.

So the premise of this thread is rather appallingly missing the point.

I may be going out on a limb here, but I'm thinking YOU guys are missing the OP's point.

If I may, I believe the OPs point simply boils down to, "Them are alien bugs. How you wanna zap the alien bugs?"

That's a question I can get behind.

Yeah pretty much. This is a fun thread. Let's not turn it into a buzz kill.

Anybody have any love for the HK 417?? http://world.guns.ru/assault/as89-e.htm Bigger bullet than the standard NATO 5.56 round. That should pack a punch plus it is German engineered :D

The canuck in me says I should have a C8 though: http://world.guns.ru/assault/as44-e.htm

Part of me also wants to carry the MP7 to storm the alien's spaceship just because how bad ass it looks. ammunition maybe a problem though: http://world.guns.ru/smg/smg49-e.htm

12 straight hours of watching Transformers 2 with stimuants coursing through their vens and their eyes rigged open.

Worse, when you consider what the humans are doing to those aliens in the camps, and how we are striving to better ourselves by trying to get alien weaponry to work.

That said, I'd use a BFG from the Doom game series.

So, ugly looking alien things = fair game for getting shot with big guns. Does that about cover it?

I think I get the point just fine. I just don't agree with it.

Then again, I grew up in a place where good ol' boys used to have "hypothetical" discussions about the best way to kill black "rioters". As a result, certain thought processes rub me the wrong way.

Just call me Mr. Buzz Kill. ;)

I'm with you on this one.

If the original poster just wanted to talk about crazy weapons to use on hostile aliens, he should have picked a movie like Independence Day or just set the scenario up on its own. This thread is nearly as bad as starting one asking "If you were alive in WWII and had access to sci-fi super weapons, which ones would you use to exterminate the Jews?" The WWII and genocide parts are completely unnecessary to ask the question, yet they're there nonetheless for no apparent reason.

It's just really poor taste all around. Especially from the people defending the thread and calling those seeing how horrible it is "buzz-kills."
