What was your first experience with a movie?

I saw the first few on video, I think TFF was the first one I saw in the cinema ...

I didn't have any Trek friends until the 80s!! :weep:

My first theater experience was Generations. I was 14 and very excited and I enjoyed the film. My parents did not. They still are not into Trek.

When I saw ST09 for the first time, there was stunned silence...
When I saw ST09 I too was stunned...with complete disgust.

Film can have a powerful effect upon you. It can move you in unexpected ways. Usually films that can't hold me leave me feeling bored. Or I might shake me head in varying degrees of disappointment. The flip side is when a film can make me feel exhilarated, happy, enriched. ST09 made me feel something rare in regard to a film: disgust.

Part of me would like to have liked it. I could even understand being disappointed. On some level I was surprised that I could experience such strong dislike and disapproval as the film unfolded with each successive scene.

As such ST09 is one of few films that I thoroughly despise.

I still don't believe you.

I do recall after the "teaser" before the opening title sequence that there was quite a buzz. This will likely be the best ever opening for a ST movie ever. Don't see anything topping it.

Does anyone have the sad experience of seeing STV FIRST then sticking with ST besides Spooky Spice?

RAMA

I saw a sketch my brother drew of Worf and was instantly captivated. Ever since I have been searching for ways to sate my thirst for ST and WB (Worf BABY.) Mostly in it for Worf but think it's a cute story also. my quest for Worf has led me through 9 bad relationships and 8 divorces. My teachers really don't get WB. but through and through Worf has kept me going. I also find that his tactics and philosophy have many practical and literary applications. But, (as my ex wives will tell you, hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahhahahah) NOT EVERYONE LIKES A KLINGON IN THEIR HOME. :scream::klingon::drool::klingon::klingon::klingon::klingon: I miss you worf

Cheers!

Re: What was your first experience with a worf movie?

When I saw ST09 I too was stunned...with complete admiration.

Film can have a powerful effect upon you. It can move you in unexpected ways. Usually films that can't hold me leave me feeling bored. Or I might shake my head in varying degrees of disappointment. The flip side is when a film can make me feel exhilarated, happy, enriched. ST09 made me feel something rare in regard to a film, and I have yet to articulate it.

Part of me would like to stop analyzing it and move on. I could even understand being disappointed. On some level I was surprised that I could experience such strong empathy and attraction as the film unfolded with each successive Worf scene.

As such ST09 is one of few Worf films, and I respect it for just that.:klingon:

(P.S. could you imagine worf as a baby? What a pain! :p )

I do recall after the "teaser" before the opening title sequence that there was quite a buzz. This will likely be the best ever opening for a ST movie ever. Don't see anything topping it.

I agree, I saw it in a special preview at the theatre before the film actually opened. So as you can imagine I was in a theatre packed with Star Trek fans and you're right, there was sock after that teaser. I remember most the collective gasp we all took when that poor dude gets sucked out into space. I could feel the electricity in that room, great film.

Star Trek VI was the first I saw at the cinema, though by that stage Id seen all the previous ones from such a young age I can't even really recall my first time for any of them. Though I have fondness for the time The Voyage Home was on ITV and I was given the important job of pausing the video as we recorded it to cut the adverts out.

Generally, I've hugely enjoyed the films when I first see them at the pictures, even if a couple of them have since fallen quite badly upon repeat viewings (hello Generations). Nemesis is the only one where I came out the screening thinking "Bugger", and that's not bad for six films.

TMP Saturday of the opening weekend in December, '79. In succeeding weeks, I proceeded to break my 10x Star Wars viewing record by seeing TMP 12 times. I just couldn't get enough if it. Went 2 or 3 times a week and analyzed it to death.

...and I like the Directors Cut better. :)

How were you introduced to the Star Trek movies?
My parents screened the first three for me on VHS at about age 4 (around the time The Voyage Home would have been in theaters).

What was the first one you saw in a theatre?
The Search for Spock is the first one I attended (at age two). The Final Frontier, however, is the first one I remember seeing in theaters.

Who were you with?
My dad. We saw a lot of movies that summer, actually. Good times.

i was about 7, and excited with my TMP Happy Meal (with an Enterprise ring)...but when i went to the movie...i believe i fell asleep during it.

Psst TFF wasn't the first Trek movie I saw, I saw them in order from 1 onward on video, TFF was the first one I saw in a cinema ;)
