One of my favorites to be sure. The sequels had potential but just weren't given the production they deserved.

The first is certainly the best. The second is cheesy as heck, and fun when you've had a few beers with mates. The third was basicly a rehash of the first, but entertaining at times. Endgame had some amazing fightsequences, but suffered from bad writing and acting, even though the plot itself had potential.

The Source..... When you read some of the plots they had going around before production began, this movie could have been pretty damned awesome for fans of the series. However, by this point, I don't thin anyone really cared anymore. It was stupid, badly written, badly directed, badly edited, badly acted..... It was just bad.

The first one is cheesy as hell, awesome 80's cheese at it's best! The rest... not worth a drinking game. (Ok, End Game was kinda nice for fans of the tv show but still pretty bad.)

These days every film is made with a potential sequel at the back of the studios mind so the transition is smoother but in the old days, the decision to make a sequel was made "after" a movie was successful so the conceit for sequels was often terrible

The original Highlander a perfect self contained story (the sequels simply spoiled that)

Highlander: the source is the Rocky IV of a Highlander films

Yep Highlander was a good, self-contained story that actually excluded the possibility for a sequel.

Quite like the first movie, don't like the second one which kind of ruins the first and introduces way more concepts than it can handle.

Haven't seen the others.

the anime film is pretty good. was it left out on purpose?

Yes. Live action only.

They were mostly terrible regardless of production values.

I didn't say "production value." Production encompasses everything that went into making the film (including the script that was chosen).

That is definitely true. They still could have done a much better job with the sequels though.

I liked the first one a lot. The renegade version of Highlander 2 (cutting out all the stupid alien stuff) made that one tolerable, but not great. I haven't had the chance to watch the others, although I own Highlander 3 on VHS.

Obviously the first one is the only good one. I can't imagine any of the other choices are going to get even one vote.

Highlander (1986)

The first and still the best.

There can be only one... until they make anther one I like. ;)
