What was the first Trek book you remember reading?

Remember reading?
I started reading Star Trek novels about 6 months ago, with the first of Khan books, Eugenics Wars.
All of the books I've read so far are actually ebooks, as I happen to live in a country who never actually printed or even made available to buy ST books in printed format...
Same goes for most fantasy books (excluding Tolkien, which was published as books for children) or various sci-fi novels (except for hard-core).

I believe Strike Zone by Peter David was the first I read, but I could be wrong. I met Peter at the Calgary Comic Expo this past May, nice guy.

The first one I remember reading was Spock, Messiah!, though by the time I had read it ('95 I think) it was a reprint. Up to that point I hadn't read any Trek but after the novelization of ST: FC I started reading more & more.

Probably the Star Trek Logs books by Alan Dean Foster. Or the Star Fleet Technical Manual. I think I picked up Spock Must Die! later, maybe after The New Voyages & Price of the Phoenix. It's tough for me to place chronologically, these many years later.

Looking at Wikipedia, there are several books listed that are in the right time frame, some of which I probably read, but I don't fully remember any of them:

Planet of Judgement
Vulcan
Starless World
World Without End

I dropped away from Star Trek books for some years. Later, The Final Reflection was the big watershed for me. It kindled a lot of enthusiasm in me, which TNG season 1 subsequently crushed.

Probably the Blish adaptations. A friend had them in Jr. High School and let me borrow them.

The Blish episode novelizations. First non-novelization was The Making of Star Trek, and first novel was Spock: Messiah.

I liked them well enough (Federation was the one that left the biggest impression I guess) ...

Federation is one of my favorites. I always cry at the end, just because it's so bittersweet and beautiful.

Heh, I remember when I bought Spock: Messiah!. I was out shopping with my mom (who in all these decades has never once understood my love for science fiction), saw it on the shelf, and pounced on it. It was $1.75 and that was a small fortune for a kid who didn't get an allowance and the then-current babysitting wage was 50 cents an hour. I remember carefully counting out my 7 quarters to hand to the clerk, all the while my mother trying to talk me out of it ("You don't really want that, do you???").

Shut up, Mom. Yes, I really wanted it. And in spite of its being trashy and not really appropriate for a kid the age I was then (thank goodness my grandfather never got hold of it, or he'd have thrown it in the garbage)... I read it, enjoyed it, and it's been an occasional guilty pleasure over the years.

(I remember thinking the Phoenix was going to be some sort of secret Romulan battleship, like in the Starfleet Academy videogame, but instead got Clone Kirk learning to be subservient to the Romulan Commander and one of the Kirks crying after Omne "beat the jungle out of him")

Then Worf's First Adventure
(anyone remember Worf's brother Simon?)

I think I was around 8.

^It was "Phoenix" in the sense of the mythological bird that resurrects upon death.

TNG: Rouge Saucer, which I still have somewhere...I think. It was about the Enterprise-D testing out a new saucer that would have been able to take off from a planet after crash landing. If memory serves, the ship/saucer gets hijacked or something and the crew has to fight to retake the ship. It was some time ago, so I don't recall all the details.

I do remember really liking it though and it served as the gateway drug to the entire world of Trek novels.
