Every single one of my cats over the last 45 years, who were either given to me, or came as strays and decided that I would be okay to live with as their forever human.

I've never had to pay for the original cat. But yeah... food, litter, toys, beds, vet bills, collars, miscellaneous other things. It adds up. But it's ultimately worth it.

Sometimes Etsy vendors will include a little freebie with an order. It's nice to order a couple of ACEO cards and get a third one for free, usually along the same theme as those I ordered.

A while back our local Coles had a stand out near the front for Continental soup and they had boxes of black soup mugs for free. I bought two packets of soup and grabbed two mugs. I thought that was neat and I still use them for soup and other things.

Three of our last 5 dogs were "free", one we got because his person, who we knew from the dog park, was getting rid of him, and two came my sister, who didn't want them anymore. We ended up with 2 ferrets, and 2 rats that came from the same sister, the same way. This was all years ago, so they've all passed away since then.

Went on holiday a few years ago in the Loire Valley and went on a boat trip. Was approached by the owner and apparently as we had pre booked we were the 100,000th customer and they had a big celebration were we were on the local news and given lots of freebies from local businesses, had a bootful of wines, food, gifts to take back home.
