What was Janeway thinking???

vas2009

Captain
Captain
I was driving in my car last night thinking about J/C... I do that often LOL... I was thinking about Endgame when 'the greatest captain in the universe' told Chak to take the helm "Mister Chakotay" she called him as he stood next to Seven. He never stood there ever! He doesn't belong next to Seven on the bridge he belongs next to Janeway... There was tension in the air, the captain's mask was in place but the feeling was defiantly there.

What was Janeway thinking at that moment? Literally.

Catty Woman
*Look at that bastard she's half his age, what the hell is he doing hanging around her station ... well he can just drive the damn ship then if he feels he isn't needed at his post. Him and his promises...He'd better not crash it.*

Or

Understanding and motherly
*Oh they look so sweet together. I know that he will be good for her, he is so sweet and gentle. I might just bust his balls this last time... "Mister Chakotay, the helm. "*

What do you think? Any other situations having you ask the same thing?

You know this is really funny because I'm writing that scene, but from Chakotay's point of view. I call it "The Epiphany" so maybe you will know where I am going with that one.

I think she would be more than a little sad, relieved, scared, happy, confused, etc all at the same time.

Brit

I like to believe that she was telling Chakotay that there were no ranks anymore by not calling him Commander. She was saying that it was the time.

Oh, but she may have been just a little catty . . . Especially when you consider Chakotay's track record with piloting.

Actually, I thought it was her way of letting HIM actively bring Voyager "home".

To me..."Mr" Chakotay is up there with "Mr Spock". A title of respect, for another Commander.

And looking at the "pride" Seven showed as he took the helm, I suspect both she and Chakotay took the order as an honor.

Maybe she was thinking "Ha, you think you're so great, well MR. wait until Seven gets a load of all the good-looking younger guys on Earth, you'll be history soon enough, that's what you get for cradle-robbing, you fool." LOL, sorry, must be in a bad mood today, but maybe I'm taking it out on Chakotay for the TPTB inferring our captain was now too old for someone her age.

i have no recollection of the importance of this scene but stylistically making the Indian hover over the Borgette makes sense because that's how infauation (Love?) works when people smell bettter than they look, but from the discussion above, this is what I read...

Janeway was getting Chuckles to dig his own grave.

There was still the near certainty that the Maquis had isocells waiting for them, so it was either some jailer from Starfleet with their hand on the throttle carting the arch criminals back into the AQ, perhaps kicking or screaming, or on a perhaps rosier tone that they'd volunteer themselve towards decades of imprisonment like doe eyed calves to a battery of veal cages by piloting their ship towards 30 years of penal restriction to bluff the jusdiciary into thinking they are penitent and sorry for thier past decisions to take a dump on the Federation Charter to fake out clemency. Was she tricking him into handing himself over to the authorities so that they would be lenient on the Maquis becuase he was too proud to play along, or did she just think it was hilarious that Chakotay had forgetten that he was and is still a terrorist and she had to help him help himself, unless he understood that it was he who had to cross the threshhold into the AQ as a symbol and it was prearranged with kathy to brush all their murder and mad bombings under the carpet?

LMFAO. A+. Your insane.

However... did she decide to hand him a shovel before or after she found out about his new GF?

End Game was about nothing else than disrupting Chakotays love life. Without Anika's early death, their relationship would have ended in divorce and Her former XO wouldn't be an emotional cripple wreck of a man not worth persuing in the future. by predetonating their relationship he was going to live happier and longer thus making Chhakotay a man worth acquiring.

You have to remember that there's every likely chance that it was (one day to be) Admiral Janeway who married the doomed couple. What was she planning on saying: "If anyone objects to this union speak now or forever hold their peace... No one? No one? Harry? Harry? No one... Well I guess if I have to wear the pants then it's my job to coyboy up and shoot this lame sham in the face before it festers into something truely agonizing... In what universe is that a wedding Dress Seven?"

If Chakotay wanted to test Kathryn's sexuality, he should have done it in shattered. Hell wouldn't shattered have been just wonderful as a farce, if he tried to stunt sex it with every temporal dioppleganger of the crew he had to squash his feelings about including obviously and especially Seska who still thought she was carrying his baby and a fully Borged out Seven... Though would 20 something Naomi be fair game?

I push the crazy out through my finger tips.

Nothing left over but cotton candy clouds between my ears.

I watched Endgame like two weeks ago to construct a counter argument to a conversation in another thread about this and that but if i must take another one for the team so be it. At least it's not Tuvix again.

In all honesty, I have never seen them as a couple, because I thought she was going to pair off with Tom.

I've read some great fanfic that addresses this very question--what happened in the next minutes after the finale. Wish I could remember where to find them!

have you read the princess bride?

Everything is going along swimmingly just like the movie until the last half page and then every ones fortune reverse entirely. Wesley started dying again and I think Fezzik squashed one of the horses, and Enigo's wounds opened ...

Hardly happy ever after?

There is so much story to tell and so many bland to unexpected directions the plot could launch to from where it acrimoniously expired.

Fanfiction completes me.

Slashfiction repletes me.
