What type of TV do you own?

42" Sharp, 19" LCD something I got on the cheap a few years ago, and a couple of 13" CRTs.

The Sharp is about 5 years old and is getting dark lines across the screen. When I replace it, soon, I hope, maybe, it will go in the master bedroom. The 19" LCD will go in the kitchen, the 13" in the kitchen will go in the guest bedroom, and the one in the guest room will go in my little workshop.

3 TVs, Living Room : Vizo 55" LED Backlit Smart HDTV 1080P (but as it's attached to our Roku 3 I don't use the smart functions much)

Master Bedroom : Westinghouse 47" LCD edge lit HDTV 1080P (attached to a Roku 2 so no smart functions needed)

Guest Bedroom : Westinghouse 32" LED edge lit HDTV 720P (attached to a Roku 1)

I used to have a rare beast a CRT HDTV a Samsung 26" 1080I/720P that weighed 110 lbs.. I got it in 2006 and sold it to a friend and he tells me it simply has the best picture for all the multiple resolutions he pumps into it.. I find that some video feeds online have too low a resolution for them to be watchable ( but there were perfect on a CRT HDTV..some as low as 280I)

But to Captain ICE..don't give up on a TV because a remote is dying. purchase a universal remote instead..a lot cheaper and as long as the TV is working (average CRT lifespan is about 20 years) there's no need..

When we move in a couple of months we're going to but the 70inch in the kitchen (because it's the future and one should have a video wall in the kitchen) and we're getting a 4K for the living room.

Because screw conversation.

It's amazing -- we can actually see each other comfortably when we talk.
See, you wouldn't have to talk to each other if you had a TV. Win-win!

Other furniture, A couple chairs and the sofa face each other, with a coffee table in between. It's amazing -- we can actually see each other comfortably when we talk.

That means people have to talk to each other? Gross.

Exactly.

TV is there precisely to prevent such nonsense...

:shifty:

:p

To those of you with 4K sets, how do you get programming to 'feed' them? There are no 4K Blu-rays or cable/satellite channels (that I'm aware of).

There are a couple of devices that Sony makes which store 4K films, but that's hella expensive.

There are a few 4K channels out there. Otherwise, they get the same stuff most of us get at 1080p.

4K TV here. Both Netflix and YouTube have a limited 4K selection available right now. Including House of Cards. Blu-rays look stunning on it.

I saw one at Costco. It was demoing scenes from STID. I was having a pants party until my wife told me to get some diapers.

The difference in clarity is almost as much as it is form SD to HD.

Right now there's not much to watch. It's like HD programming 10-12 years ago (speaking of, I'm binging West Wing now and there's a line saying "Yeah, but it's in HD digital now. But who has that?").

Anywho...this is the direction programming is going. I'm glad the industry got over that little 3D spat.
