What Type of Fanfiction Do You expect to Come out of Either DSC or even The Orville?

Probably just another bunch of tiresome romance fan fictions (Janeway/Chakotay, Picard/Crusher... yawn) along with a few really decent stories that are hidden somewhere on AO3 or fan fiction.net. Ones that are rarely found.

Welp, the first two episodes have aired and fanfic, att least in one-shots, is very slowly starting to trickle in, though I think that might be because the first two ep were like a prequel. We get to the actual Discovery ship and main cast next week.
I have seen a few examples of BurGeo ( Michael Burnham/ Phillipa Georgiou) one-shots and some comments on social media. I have also seen a few comments on desires to see Michael's childhood on Vulcan as well. It will be interesting to see what comes to fruition during the series run, particularly with the addition of new characters.

I'd love to read a fanfic in which the Kahless clone encounters T'Kuvma. Would be very interesting because he was a Kahless fanatic and was acting very dishonorable by
destroying the Admiral's ship after accepting an armistice shortly before. A rather romulan like action imo

That would be awesome! And trying to imagine how either Klingon might have time travelled to meet each other would be interesting to.

I actually do enjoy romance from time to time but only if its couched in a great story.

The fanfic I'm currently plotting out, Star Trek: Salvation, is inspired by Discovery - with elements from Mars, and The Expanse, thrown in.

That sounds great! I'm sticking to a series of weekly one-shots based mostly within the universe of DSC myself. Though for amusement I might try a one-shot from The Orville if I see something interesting to inspire me.

Anyone written a crossover, yet? Like, instead of the USS Discovery, Burnham's shuttle is rescued by the USS Orville. And since Lorca plotted to have her come on board, he comes looking for her.

And there's a confrontation. And probably something about the spore drive causing an interdimensional temporal wibbly wobbly thing.

That would be preety awesome! A crosover between the two actually sounds rather inevitable given how much the fandom seems to be wierdly divided by the two (I personally enjoy both, though The Orville's humour is awkward and the whole divorce seasonal arc thing is off putting and tired). Someone eventually is going to be inspired to meet in the middle so to speak. :)

Since canon creates most Star Trek characters as sexless beings I love a good sci fi romance. Canon has humanoid characters stuck on a ship for years, single, horny and hardly getting any....yeah right, very realistic.

That just (unwittingly) echoes the life of real sailors. In real life, having sex with crewmates can get you court-martialed--any sex between sailors while underway is a violation, whether or not it constitutes "fraternization" (defined close personal relationships between officers and enlisted in all instances or between Chief Petty Officers and lower enlisted ranks, when serving in the same command). Not that they don't do it, but it's full of risk.

And an intimate relationship between a CO and ANY subordinate, like Picard and Nella Daren in "Lessons"? The fires of hell itself would rain down upon him in real life. And, in the novels, he obviously couldn't have Beverly serving under him. Nor could Riker have Deanna serving under him.

I commend Kirsten Beyer for at least giving a nod towards how things actually work, by having that admiral pitch a fit and posting Janeway and Chakotay to separate ships in the new Voayger novels.

I love Star Trek, but sometimes the utter inability of some of the writers to do basic research on how stuff actually works in the real-life military is dumbfounding. Especially for show writers, when they had veterans on staff. :sigh:

There's more than one military in real life, though, and they don't all follow the same rules.

To answer the OP's question I kind of expect many Discovery stories with other Trek characters from the era, e.g. Pike's Enterprise or ENT alumni.

How about the Krill land on Altamid and bump into Idris Elba and his vampire suit, explaining his look at the start of Star Trek Beyond?
