What TrekLit Idea/Story Would You Love to See Adapted Onscreen?

Of the many fascinating stories and ideas found in the various Trek books, which would you like to see adapted or incorporated in a Trek tv show? For me, it'd have to be the culture of the Andorians. I love how they were developed in the DS9 relaunch books, which the multiple sexes, and it'd be great if a show took inspiration from the books and explored Andorian sexuality/gender/culture in a similar fashion.

There are a few obvious ones. The Destiny trilogy comes to mind. I would have loved to have seen the Romulan War on screen (though the books were written for that because I think they realized that was never going to happen).

But the one I'll throw out there is a favorite of mine that is probably a dark horse. "Chain of Attack" by Gene DeWeese is one of my favorite all time Star Trek novels and I can easily picture that on screen.

The basic gist of the story is the Enterprise passes through a portal to another galaxy. I forget exactly why, but they can't just go back through the portal to get home and I seem to remember there was no point hanging around the entry point. So they decide to do some exploring, partly, of course, to see if they can find a way home. There is a uneasy feeling as they pass planet after planet devestated and uninhabited due to apparent war hundreds of years before. Eventually they encounter two civilizations that are at war, and have been for generations. Captain Kirk attempts contact with the two and attempts to get the 2 sides to talk to each other (even though IIRC they have not spoken directly in ages). I won't say anymore to avoid spoiling the story but I really loved the exploration angle, they really were where no one has gone before. And it requires Kirk to draw on some of his diplomatic skills and just his ability to convince others to do things. And there's no way for the Enterprise to get help since it's in another galaxy. They really are the only ship in range.

The Wounded Sky. No question.

And I'd score the climactic sequence of K't'lk creating a universe with the "Disappearance of the Palace and of Kashchei's spells/Animation of the Petrified Warriors/General Thanksgiving" scene from Stravinski's Firebird (which is what I always hear in my head while reading that scene, and what I'm listening to as I type this.

@Damian hmm, now I have to check out Chain of Attack! Never heard of it before.

It's sort of a dark horse. I'd be interested to see what other people think of it. It is a loose sequel to "The Abode of Life" written by someone else (I forget the author off hand) though it's not at all necessary to read "The Abode..." and that novel was weaker. There is also a sequel to "Chain of Attack" called "The Final Nexus" by DeWeese (not related to the Nexus from Generations BTW) that I didn't feel was as strong (it was ok but not as good as COA).

The Wounded Sky. No question

Wasn't TNG: "Where No One Has Gone Before" loosely based on "The Wounded Sky"?

Crossroad would have been amazing a decade ago. The idea of the Federation turning evil in the future and breeding a mentally handicapped worker class blew my young mind.

No point doing it now though, Discovery is likely to explore some of that stuff like that in their post-apocalyptic season 3, arguably already did "evil Starfleet" in S2 with Section 31 and the Yaggorth was pretty much Ripper from season 1.

I wouldn't mind seeing at least one or two of the Titan characters pop up on the Lower Decks version of the ship in Season 2.
I'd put in another vote for Vanguard, and I think it would fit in really well with Discovery.
I would love to see Elias Vaughn pop up in one of the 23rd or 24th Century shows.

The "Andor: Paradigm" entry in "Worlds of DS9" would work well to live-action adaptation. It covers the four genders, a scientific discovery, natural disasters (a sudden thaw) and funeral customs.

It was a jumping-on point for many fans. The first original Pocket novel after ST IV.

K't'lk played by Eric Menyuk?

Chain of Attack was also #1 in Titan books TOS line in the UK & Commonwealth.

Of course the numbering gets screwed up after #7 (US #38 The IDIC Epidemic) when #8 is “Yesterday’s Son” (US #11).

This was most likely for contractual reasons, put the newest out then release older titles.

I would love to see Mackenzie Calhoun make a canonical appearance. I would also love for The Ashes of Eden, The Return, and Avenger to be referenced enough that a broad-strokes version of their events are made canon. Federation would make a cool animated movie. It would be so awesome if the Avatar duology, Rising Son, and Unity from the DS9 relaunch were adapted too.
