What Trek TV Episode Used Computer Simulation of Previous Characters?

Hi, I'm trying to track down a particular Star Trek series/episode. If my memory serves me, it was in either Deep Space 9 or Voyager. The scene was a fist fight, as I recall, in a cafeteria or some such eating place. Some of the characters were, I believe, computerized images of earlier Star Trek characters, as, for example, from the original Star Trek series or some such thing. It seemed quite clever at the time and stuck with me, but my memory is fuzzy as to the details. I'd love to know which series and episode had this event.

Sounds like "Trials and Tribbleations" from DS9. I think it was season 5. It utilized footage from TOS series' episode "The Trouble with Tribbles".

yeah, that was one of the DS9 episodes i actually liked.

It wasn't that the old crew were computer simulated, it was the digital inputting of the new DS9 crew into the old footage of the TOS episodes (the last bit of TOS footage was taken from "Mirror Mirror")

At the time it was so impressive for TV that it merited mention in a computer magazine, which is where I first heard of the episode. I picked it up on VHS before the BBC broadcast it in the UK, so excited was I. For the sake of completeness, I even sat through the episode before, something boring about Keiko O'Brian being possessed by some alien or another

Trials and Tribble-ations sees the DS9 crew travel back from the 24th C to the 23C and they wind up involved in the events of the TOS episode The Trouble with Tribbles.

no simulations involved.
