Texting is better than shouting your obnoxious conversation out so all the world can hear.
And actually talking to the person in person is even better than that. But I guess that would make too much sense.![]()
Yes, because people text each other when they're in each other's company.
I really hate it when people are opposed to technology just so they can be opposed to technology.
People will do irresponsible things with all sorts of technology. That doesn't make the technology bad.And actually talking to the person in person is even better than that. But I guess that would make too much sense.![]()

That hasn't happened to you?? The friend I described upthread has done it to me when were sitting across from each other at lunch. When it asked him why he didn't just talk to me, he didn't answer. Just kept staring at his phone.
I'm not one of those opposed to technology just to be opposed to it, but I think cell phones can be dangerous because of the accidents they can cause. The friend I mention frequently sends and reads text message while driving, and controls the steering wheel with his knees.
Does this sound responsible to you??

And no, I've never had anyone text me from inside the same room.
Texting is a really convenient and fast way to make plans with people if actually calling them is not an option.
Wow, you are completely clueless.Texting is a really convenient and fast way to make plans with people if actually calling them is not an option.
For immature teenage girls, maybe. "OMG! WTF! UB BFF!"![]()

First of all, everyone I have ever had text conversations with has used complete sentences. I encounter more texting shorthand on this website than I ever had in an actual text.
A pretty typical text conversation for me goes something like this...
Me: "Do you want to do something when you get off work?"
Friend: "Sure, I'll give you a call when I get off."
The end.

No, the whole point is that I can't say that in a phone call. Often I am texting from work if I'm on break. Or I am texting knowing that they are at work and can't answer their phone. There might be 2-3 hours in between my initial text and the response my friend sends me.A pretty typical text conversation for me goes something like this...

Yeah, I text with people in complete sentences, too. I think it's only teenagers who text with obnoxious abbreviations, even though the few teenagers I text with definitely don't do that.

I'd say you have some texting issues from teenage hood(excluded from some kind of text circle or something?)
and harbour a resentment towards people who text.
Sounds to me like you're being resistant for its own sake. You haven't given any actual reasons for not liking it other than "why don't you just make a phone call?". You're not even debating. Not resentment, really, just a slight twinge of annoyance. There is such a thing as too much convenience...and harbour a resentment towards people who text.
