What species would you want to be?

If the Star Trek Universe was real, what species would you want to be? Base your answer on what we know about each species' behavioural characteristics, home world, lifestyle, recent history etc.

What sort of career path would you choose as this species?

It's okay to say human and it's okay to say you want to join Starfleet and captain your own starship

To be honest, I'd probably want to choose one of a few races a friend and I have developed for the purposes of an RP rather than one shown onscreen.

However, I probably WOULD want to join Starfleet, but definitely not a captain. A captain has too much responsibility for my liking. But I'd definitely like to be on a starship, as an engineer, perhaps.

Half Human, Half Vulcan... Like Spock.

My Vulcan half would make me want to pursue engineering duties aboard a Starship, Starbase, or Ground-based operations facility. My human half, however, would have anarcho-capitalist political views, desire to stay out of the way of Starfleet as much as possible, and try to stockpile weapons and latinum.

In reality, I would probably wind up leading a quiet and isolated life on a remote planet where I would grow prunes, earthworms, and build computers in the garage.

I will join you, I think. I'd be a Cardassian helping create a new Cardassia, and probably some sort of diplomatic attache assisting our ambassadors in forming closer ties with our neighbours, worlds that need to see another side to Cardassia than guns and death.

Yes, agreed--the proposed dismantling of the military in Star Trek: Online is unacceptable. Even in Earth history, nations with a similar history to Cardassia were left a defense force. To be completely at the mercy of others--I fear what that would spur the radical elements to try.

PTRACER--There are individual Cardassians who are definitely to be despised, for their poor character and the things they've done. But Cardassians have been shown to be very much a mixed bag, like humanity and the Bajorans, so I think each has to be taken on his or her own merits.
