What sort of animal is in this video?

I would have said a dog. There's nothing there to give any kind of proportion, and the motion of the camera is a definite handicap, though as it seems it was filmed from the air, I'm willing to give the operator some slack on the vibration.

Actually, that sort of shaking is consistent with an extreme optical zoom-in, like 20x.

Swamp gas.

Oh.

It looked like a dog to me, but who can tell from that distance and with Paul Greengrass having a seizure on a helicopter in a tornado working the shaky cam?

It looked like it could be a fox, a cat, a racoon. I couldn't even tell the size of it. Certainly nothing that indicates it's anything interesting. My guess is fox or even domestic dog.

EDIT: A Tasmanian Tiger would be cool, but the odds are against it.

OMYGOD its a THYLACINE!

seriously, how cool would it be to find a living thylacine still running around....
Remembering a couple of other vids of supposed thylacine sightings, that thought did cross my mind while watching this one the first couple of times, but yeah, the odds of that are not great.
