What should the uniforms look like

Don't know if this has been asked, but what style do you think they will make the uniforms, will it be jumpsuits or something along the lines from Tos but better looking and fitting or could it be like the style from the wrath of khan more military

By the mid 23rd century, I expect that we'll have clothing with heavily integrated nanocomputing power that adjusts automatically to our environment (and organic computers tattooed all over our bodies should be possible, but I guess that may be a matter of taste). For the film, I think they should tone down the primary-color pyjama-look from the old series. I would suggest a solution, but I have absolutely no sense of style.

Took off the jackets from the TWOK uniforms. Use the TNG colors with the department color arrangement from ENT. Change the collars to TOS' and change them from black to department color. Use the TNG colors with the department color arrangement from ENT. Add the TOS rank stripes and arrowhead to the cuffs and collar. Voila'

Yeah I think the early turtlenecks are a good start for creating new uniforms. But it would be a shame for them not to be somewhat colorful - they don't have to be as bright as TOS, but they shouldn't look like janitors either.

TOS uniforms would be fine, just with more detail, and perhaps a more metallic sheen. That, or The Mule's suggestion is fine - something akin to the uniforms from the two pilots.

They absolutely must be the exact original uniforms from TOS. If they are off, even to the degree of one shade or one zipper placement, then the movie will be a disaster, I will boycott it, and Paramount will stand to lose millions!

Or not. Just sayin'.

They should all wear those mini-skirts and go-go boots. Even the men.

QFT.

I won't watch it if mini-skirts aren't part of the uniforms. (meh, I'll watch it anyway, but I'd be disappointed ;) )

I think thin knit long sleeve colored shirts and quasi-cargo pants with a little taller than ankle high black leather boots. Keep the insignia on the chest, but make it solid - to avoid confusion. The stitching on the sleeves can stay, but should be simplified. Mini-skirts and thigh high boots should not be used!!

I also like the idea of the "Cage" and "WNMHGB" styled uniforms.

And catsuits for all the women! Just kidding.

If this is in fact a true prequel, and one that is supposed to take place early in Kirk's command of the Enterprise, then they have no choice but to use the uniforms seen in Cage and WNM. Anything else -- along with any major redesign of the NCC-1701 -- means its reimagining.

It's just one of the many straight-jackets Abrams has buckled on himself when he decided to create an in-canon prequel rather than starting with a clean slate.

Cheers!

If that's the standard, then it's a reimagining.

I wouldn't be so rigid, the way uniforms tend to suddenly up and change between gaps in Star Trek for no good reason other then aesthetics on the part of those making it. It can easily be rationalized there have a few unseen uniforms as of yet.

As for the ship herself. I'm betting the design will carry many familiar visual cues to suggest where this takes place well still being updated.
