What should I read before Destiny?

I certainly do - one of my favourite authors. How would that title relate to Q&A though? Or was that a very early idea before the book was written?

I certainly do - one of my favourite authors. How would that title relate to Q&A though? Or was that a very early idea before the book was written?

It was playing on the end of the universe notion. In particular there's this verse from the song:

From dawn to sundown, it's a long long way
And it's a hollow triumph when you make it to the bottom of another day
There's a fever rising when the evening comes
And when the battle's over, there'll be nothing left but the sound of drums

Ultimately, dumping the title was the right choice, if for no other reason than it's too heavy for a Q book.

Wouldn't Q be the logical explanation (to blame) for the end of the universe?
That sounds exactly like a Q book...

Although I've read Quite Ugly One Morning a few times (I've read all 12 of Brookmyre's novels) and I did know it was from a song some where, I never knew any of the words, but from my own personal opinion and the dark humour that prevails through QU1M as well as every other one of Brookmyre's novels, I think using it for a Q story would have rocked and wasn't too heavy for a Q story as it wasn't as if he didn't have a dark side to his humour nor that Q&A wasn't funny.

Maybe OT, but in addition to Warpath/FS, I think there is also a bit of a spoiler for... Worlds of DS9 Andor story too, maybe... but just a teeny one...

I'm sure it's not necessary but I'm glad I read Kobayashi Maru before jumping into Destiny which I started doing until I realized I needed to read Greater Than the Sum first. Just to get to know the Columbia crew a little.

The current Borg storyline is not very appealing to me, much as I love the Borg.

You don't need to read GTTS first. Every book is written to be understandable without having read any prior works. Unless you just mean that, if you were planning to read them all anyway, GTTS should be read first because it takes place first.

Destinty is actually not that connected to the Resistance/Before Dishonor/Greater than the Sum story, that stuff is pretty much tied up in GTTS. IMO if you're a Borg fan, you really do need to read Destiny.
