What should change about the possible new Star Trek Experience?

Yeah, sadly, I think the only way that a new Experience will be opening anytime soon is if I win the Lottery. Waah!

Man, this bums me out so much. One visit to the old Experience is just not enough. :(

This is slightly off topic, but here's some info I found interesting regarding the use of the are of the Hilton where STTE used to reside. I know at the beginning there were rumors about a Michael Jackson stage and such, and in a recent article, it appears that those might have been true at one point:

The idea that they danced around from mid-2006 to mid-2007, and again earlier this year, was to have Jackson in residence at a Las Vegas hotel, where he'd star in a concert spectacular called Michael Jackson Presents that would also feature guest appearances by the latest hitmakers.

I also think that this year's Star Trek Convention in Vegas in August by Creation Convention will have the lowest number of attendees ever because of lack of Star Trek the Experience...and the guys @ Creation don't know how to promote a convention and don't have the "crutch" of the Experience to help them. --sad---I say, move the big Convention back to LA/Pasadena

hey all,

http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#/photo_search.php?oid=75042220135&view=all if that link works, it takes you to the facebook group pictures section where i have uploaded a few pictures taken on 28th June 2009 of neonopolis. if the link doesnt work then just mosy on over to the facebook group and click on pictures (as if i need to explain that lol).

when you see the pictures, you'll probably understand my hesitations better.

Anyone else heardf anything new?

I can only judge by what i experienced during the first run of STTE. I would like to see actors who take the job seriously.

I did the 'tour' twice in one day. The first one was incredible. i cried. The actors took their jobs very seriously. It was a great experience for someone like me.

Took a break, ate lunch at Quarks. Then did the tour again.

The second shift didnt take their jobs seriously. They cracked up during the serious parts and it just blew the whole thing for me. I know im being terribly geeky here, but this was going to be my last time doing it and i really wanted to be in the moment, and they took it all as a joke. It was a real bummer.

^^^When I was a production lead at STTE back in 1998-99, there was a constant struggle to get the actors (who were understandably bored by their 1000+ performances) to remember that the guests were seeing it for the first time. There also tended to be a difference in the level of dedication between the day shift and the swing shift. This was why I ultimately took a pay cut and auditioned for the walk-around aliens, who remain to this day some of the most professional and fun actors I have ever worked with.

I, of course, agree with you.

^ Biggshow-- i dont suppose you were this Klingon? He was GREAT!

^^^That looks like Churoq, AKA Mark Weitz, currently doing guest improv at the Fremont Street Experience. He's also taken what he learned as a Klingon and applied it to a new character that he does stand-up with. You can see a picture of it here:

He's got some videos up here, they sure got a laugh out of me.

Any news on Part III of Star Trek: My Experience from anybody? What're the other cast members up to?

Also... I would really like to find out if I can score a set of the 8x10 signed character portraits they used to have in the shop of the characters. I know they had multiple shots of each, I'd just like a set of one per. Anybody got any ideas?

The easiest way to get the photos and keep apprized of developments at STTE-A is sign up on Trekspace.com and add Star Trek: The Experience to your groups. Seven of Sixteen is the unofficial archivist for The Experience and you could ask him. Several of the aliens are also members of that group.

You might also be able to find the alien pictures at Vernon Wilmer's (AKA Seven of Sixteen) massive photobucket. Check it and other STTE goodies at this thread:

After watching Part 2 of Vernon's documentary series, I miss that place even more. I was feeling nostaligic as I drank my home-made Liquid latinum in my Quark's pilsner glass, had to capture the feeling. I really hope the new one can get up and running, but it seems like the the situation is grim and the odds are against it. I'm currently in the process of making my first floor to at least capture the spirit of the experience. Have to figure out a few things, but when I'm done, it's going to feel like a little piece of home.

Hi, I just saw this thread so I just signed up. My friend and I went to Vegas last year and will be there again this year. Of course we were at Quarks all the time since we stayed at the Hilton. And we went to the Experience on two different days. One day we just did the rides constantly all day because it was the day before the convention started. So now we won't have much to keep us occupied when we are not busy with the convention. And Quarks was the perfect place to hang out in our costumes! We always had great actors at the experience and since we were in costume it was just a blast. It makes me sad to think about it. My friend had a red target dress and I had T'Pol's blue mirror dress. This year we have more costumes. I just hope the convention will be as great as last year. I noticed that each evening after the convention ended, everyone disappeared immediately. Where does every go each evening, other than special events?

has anyone heard anything about this new rumour that the experience might actually be going back to the Hilton? seems highly unlikely to me but you never know
