What should be retained ?

Nowhere Man

Commodore
In Star Trek 11 there is debate over the movie and what did/ didn't work? What do you think should be retained? Personally I lke the old school beebs and whistles and the NASA type feel. I want JJ to keep that.

There are only two things I'd change.

The engine room. I don't mind it looking like a brewery, I actually liked that, but I wish there was a more centralized area for Scotty to work in. As it stands, there doesn't seem to be a main control room and people seem to have to do a lot of running and climbing all over the place to get things done.

The tricorders. I thought they were too small and sort of looked like communicators. They don't have to be as big as the ones in TOS, but I'd like them to be more easily recognizable.

Other than those two things, I wouldn't change anything...

I'd like a little more depth and a little less giddy fun. Not necessarily TWoK levels of seriousness, but something that feels a bit less light. Let's see Kirk mature a bit.

I'd like less Kirk-Spock and more Kirk-Spock-McCoy.

A bit less lens flaring and steadicam would be nice, though they're okay in moderation. I find they become increasingly noticeable/distracting on rewatches.

I'd like some reworking of Engineering and it would be nice if the bridge was a little less garish.

I've never minded the lens flares, its an intresting technique which i think works well.
I'dlike to see more of Mccoy but i think they balanced the cast pretty well for the first film.

I like the lens flares too. And the brewery (but it shouldn't have been so empty - more redshirts!)

I hope they don't modify the design of the ship, I like the oddly-proportioned slightly-alien look. It made it look like a combo of all the Federation races' tech rather than just Earth.

I would ask that they keep the Enterprise's size consistant thoughout the next movie (and stick to the big 725m size, since it's the only one that fits everything).

Keep all the neat alien crewmembers (including Keenser!), as well as the racially-diverse humans. After the almost all-white Voyager and Enterprise extras, it was nice to see a united Earth in space.

I would like to see more Kirk-Spock-McCoy in the next movie. I don't mind the brewery but they could disguise it a little more. A couple of moments it was too obvious what is was and it took me out of the movie for a moment. Other than that I think they have a real winning formula and they should stick with it.

One thing they should definitely keep is the same pacing the first movie had. There was not a dull moment like some movies have.

This will get me in trouble... I choose actors and costumes, everything and everybody else...under the bus!

I am wondering if the Bridge of the Enterprise is going to be retained as it was seen in the film. I have seen the captains chair auctioned online. If they were not going to change the bridge then why would they sell the big chair.

A little bit more moderation with the lens flare and the shakycam during battle would be nice, along with less bombastic music and more concise dialogue. Also, it'd be nice to Gaila again, as I felt she had some pretty good chemistry with Kirk.

Retain everything but the Star Wars critter. I'd give Simon Pegg the boot too, in favor of someone interested in actually playing Scotty and not just doing his standard comic schitck.

We need more McCoy but someone get Urban a voice coach. His accent isn't bad, but it's a bit too generic. Let's hear a little more Georgia lilt in there.

What to do, in the next movie or someday: flesh out the Romulans as a species and society, along the lines of the Klingons, Cardassians, Vulcans.

Hmm, definitely more McCoy
less lens flares
the brewery seems very lifeless and empty - they could do something here
and it would be nice to have Pike in a minor role somewhere.
