Oh, and Robotech. Very important to mention that one. I spent most of my childhood catching that on Cartoon Network's Toonami.
Hercules and Xena. Some of the best characters ever created with a great blend of comedy and drama. The overwhelming cheesiness of the two shows only made them better.
Both were excellent shows that unfortunately tanked 'writing-wise' in their final seasons. Both introduced the world to a host of NZ talent that have since gone on to international success. And I am surprised that they never achieved better re-run syndication post-series. And is it just me or did the success of these shows possibly contribute to LOTR being made in NZ?
I'm actually glad none of the movies touched on the origins of the aliens. The more you know about a monster, the less scary it is. I like Alien3 because it was very much about giving up. How does Ripley keep fighting for survival when her foe has taken everything. In a place where no one matters, with people who have themselves given up. It's such a nihilistic take and a good place to take the franchise and the character of Ripley.

The Sentinel--the UPN series (OK, that right there sums up why no one else likes or has seen it).
When I first really got into the whole "internet community thing," the boards I frequented all talked The Sentinel. There was a big Jim versus Blair was going on. I even went to a convention in Texas that was overwhelmed with Sentinel discussion, music videos and merchandise.
But here? No one seems to know it, let alone like it. And none of my "non-geek" friends know it at all.
But I adore it. As cheesy as it was, I loved the chemistry between the two guys. I loved the whole "superpowers from ancient times" thing, the strange mix of shamanism with the modern cop drama, the Spirit Guides, etc. I bought the whole thing--hook, line and sinker.
