What races do you want to see in the next series main cast?

We've already had a poll of who you would like to play the Captain in the next series:
Who would you want to play the captain in Trek series 6

What races would you like to see on the bridge, sick bay, and in engineering in the next season?

I'd like to have a Latino woman, a Filipino man, a couple Indians (from Republic of India), 2 caucasians from America & Canada, 1 native African man, a man from People's Republic of China (not a Chinese American), 1 African American, a Korean, a middle Eastern woman (with a hijab but not a full Burqa.), a French man.

Star Trek has always been on the forefront of having a very mixed race crew and I'd like to see the above be more representative of our world's races on the show.
And none of that England/South Africa/Austrailian-based Indian/African actor with a British-type accent stuff.

Star Trek to me has represented a real melting pot just like any top 10 city with many races & ethnicities. Don't you want to see how they can be more realistic?
I realize it is television and that it would greatly reduce how the audience can relate to a Starfleet crewmember if she were wearing a full Burqa so my compromise would be a hijab.

I didn't want to make this a poll so just write out what you'd like to see a crew consist of race-wise (not actors specifically).

I would love to hear more about the Breen and the Orion Syndicate. I think a cleverly integrated Orion slave girl would be brilliant, though she'd have to play down her beauty significantly, and maybe have weekly hyposprays to reduce her pheromone output! Haha

I would like to see a chav captain, second officer, science officer, communications officer, helmsman and navigations officer and of course, a chav doctor.

And, they all beam down to a planet of chavs and throw beer everywhere and p*** in the street.

Then, they all beam back up and do the same on the Enterprise. And they knack the warp drive in.

Then, they go somewhere else.

Just kidding. It would never happen.

;);););););)

Hah! I thought you were asking about Star Trek species!!!

Human races? Boring! :rommie:

My votes go to: Vulcans, Romulans, Vortas. Pointy ears rule, baby!

And someday, someone has to explain to me what the holy fuck a "chav" is. :p

Seconded! Lots of Orions and Andorians, anyone with green or blue skin is top of my list!

I would like to see a chav captain
Your basic description of nuKirk.

I like to see some characters, maybe running around the background, who are outside the average physical stature. My friend Theresa is a dwarf, she about four foot five, someone like her.

Or a seven foot tall, three hundred and fifty pound security officer. Padded suit of some kind.

Just a thought.

:)

I'd like to see an Andorian officer on the bridge, possibly a cute female Tellarite one too.

That's about it on my wish list...

I want to see a Horta. Not an actor under a rug, a real Horta - a screeching, rumbling, constantly transforming mass of wiggling silicon crystals.
It'd be a pain to animate that, though.

I'm down with a little more diversity, but Trek usually mirrors about the amount of diversity of the United States. Two white crew members isn't going to happen. I'm all for some Middle Easterners but if this is Trek they shouldn't be Muslim. Overt displays of Christianity have apparently been all but eradicated in the 23rd/24th century, so I don't see why Islam should be different. Only Native Americans and aliens are allowed to be religious you know. Although this gives me an idea, how about a Christian science officer? That should teach Trek some tolerance.

To be fair we also don't know the population balance of the 24th century. Maybe there really are just that many white American people. Things change. About 80 years ago Europe had 33% of the worlds population. Maybe WWIII was mostly fought in other places around the globe leaving the states relatively well off. Who knows

What the hell, I'll play this game. I want a transgendered(MTF)first officer, Khoisan captain, Paraguayan medical officer(Latinos aren't that monolithic, lets be specific), an autistic Indonesian helmsman, Chinese transporter operator , a ginger for security, a gay Italian with psoriasis in a wheel chair for engineering, and a cloned Neanderthal as our fish out of water science officer, just to cover all bases.

i want a ship crewed entirely by hortas. and an emh that would be slowly driven insane.

.

Why not a science officer that believes in science? And what they believe in is neither here nor there, apart from science. I don't think they should have one that clasps his hands together and goes white, and encourages everyone else to do the same, under a photon torpedo attack, is a good idea. One that leaps to his instruments, yes. Maybe utters a McCoy, 'thank God' at their survival, maybe, but I would rather he said it quitely, rather than skipping around and encouraging the bridge crew to donate.

a middle Eastern woman ...I realize it is television and that it would greatly reduce how the audience can relate to a Starfleet crewmember if she were wearing a full Burqa so my compromise would be a hijab.
Ensign (or was it then Lieutenant) Ro was wearing a head ban -head scarf in at least one episode. She also wore the ear piece of her faith.

I think a hijab would be a fine display of diversity.

I'm down with a little more diversity, but Trek usually mirrors about the amount of diversity of the United States. [snip] I'm all for some Middle Easterners but if this is Trek they shouldn't be Muslim.
If the Enterprise Dee, (one example) reflects the United States, then there be about forty Muslims on board.

Although this gives me an idea, how about a Christian science officer?

Yeah, a Christian science officer.

Actual, I not sure if Magellan meant a "Christian Scientist" who is the science officer, or a "Christian" scientist who is the science officer.

Clarification please.

:):):)

I'd want a disabled, African-American Muslim captain with a hook hand and who has Chinese parents. His parents are actually a gay male couple who adopted him from a Bolian colony on Ceti Alpha V.

I think that wins the diversity suggestion wars!

A creationist science officer would be great in a Galaxyquest style spoof. S/he'd be a bit like the wizard in Crod Mandoon and the Flaming Sword of Fire.

I'd want a disabled, African-American Muslim captain with a hook hand and ...
Oh, and he has to speak using one of those Stephen Hawking voice synthesizers too.

Arm ... The ... Torpedoes ... Take ... This ... You ... Bastards ...

Whilst I agree that the next Trek should have a diverse Human crew (whats wrong with Brits and Aussies?) having an all-Human crew takes away from the fact that Starfleet is made up of over 150 species, and would just be dull IMO. Azetbur says in TUC, "the Federation is nothing more than a homosapians only club" -- lets prove her wrong!

I'd have the next cast include a maximum of three humans, maybe a human/alien hybrid, but that's it. Make the rest alien species. There are too many good races out there to use (Andorian, Bolian, Benzite, Vulcan, to mention a few of my favourites), as well as whatever new one the creators can come up with.

But whatever they go for, the one thing I want to see on the bridge of the next ship is a gay male human (though not flamboyant or feminine, just a normal man who happens to be gay), it's long overdue!
