What Other Science Fiction Universes Do You Like?

Star Trek TOS is my personal fave..however I do have a soft spot for Gerry Anderson's UFO and Space 1999.
Babylon 5 is right up there too.. and Firefly! I'm starting up the Expanse (always wanted semi-realistic Solar System Space Opera after I read Earthlight for the first time)..

Tons. Off the top of my head:
  • Babylon 5
  • Birdy the Mighty: Decode
  • Chronicles of Riddick
  • Cowboy Bebop
  • Crest of the Stars
  • Dark Matter
  • DC Verse
  • Dollhouse
  • Dragonriders of Pern
  • Ergo Proxy
  • The Expanse
  • Farscape
  • Firefly
  • Full Metal Panic
  • Ghost in the Shell
  • Gunslinger Girl
  • Heroic Age
  • Infinite Ryvius
  • Knights of Sidonia
  • Last Exile
  • Legend of the Galactic Heroes
  • Mardock Scramble
  • Marvel Verse
  • Noein-To Your Other Self
  • Outlaw Star
  • Planetes
  • Psycho-Pass
  • Real Drive
  • Roughnecks: Starship Trooper Chronicles
  • Sol Bianca: The Legacy
  • Space: Above and Beyond
  • Space Battleship Yamato 2199
  • Starship Operators
  • Steins; Gate
  • Star Wars
  • Stratos 4
  • Time of Eve

Star Wars
Doctor Who
Firefly
Babylon 5
Marvel Comics
DC Comics
Stargate SG-1
Dune
Mass Effect

and probably a lot more that don't come to mind immediately.

I like Sliders and Andromeda. Do they count?

I just finished my run of Andromeda for the 3rd time since getting the DVDs back a few years ago..

Now I just wish they had done one feature to wrap up the post series world. I really thought season 5 was not nearly as bad as some folks make it out to be.

6/10 for the entire run.

As for Sliders that went down the toilet in the 2nd half of season 3, circled the drain in season 4 and went into the ocean in season 5. Ugh. That was a way to kill a show. Having said that I do love the first 2 seasons and the first half of season 3.

I think you might like the Babylon-5 verse, its a little dated though...90s

I have recently been enjoying the new series, "American Politics, Election 2016"...don't want to give away any spoilers, but it is worth a watch. Only live, though, no Netflix or YouTube...

Dune
Sliders
Chronicles of Riddick
Space 1999 (yeah, yeah, I know...I know!)

For me:
Doctor Who
G.I. Joe
Witchblade
Lady Death
The Belgariad by David Eddings
Star Wars
Marvel Comics
CrossGen Comics (original)
DC Comics
Star Trek
Babylon 5
Tron
Battlestar Galactica (original)
"The Captain Amanda Garrett" series by James H. Cobb
Robotech
Exo-Squad
The Prisoner (original)
Firefly/Serenity
Supergirl (current TV series)
& way too many other manga and anime universes to list

That show ends the same way every season. The best liar wins.

Star Trek and Star Wars are my top two, the rest are pretty equal
Stargate (the TV series)
Farscape
Babylon 5
The X-Files
Marvel Comics
DC Comics
Mass Effect
Are we including fantasy or just sci-fi?

Aside from Trek and Star Wars:

Doctor Who
Blake's 7
Stargate (mostly just SG1 but I've seen them all)
The Prisoner
Firefly/Serenity
The Sentinel
Sliders (although it sucked after the Professor left)
The Avengers-verse, including Agent Carter.

...the last few years, I've been much more interested in fantasy:
in books, Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell and pretty much everything by Neil Gaiman.
on tv, in shows like Supernatural and Game of Thrones.

Star Wars, Stargate, Star Trek, B5, X-Files, Stargate, BSG (both), Firefly, Marvel comics/film/TV, Hitchhikers Guide, Doctor Who, Blakes 7, Game of Thrones, Tolkien.

I'm sure there's more...

I've tried to take the question literally - rather than what shows I like, these are the fictional universes I find compelling and interesting and well crafted.
Stargate - A relatively simple founding concept that created a really interesting expandable universe. Got a bit lost as time went on but the original premise of say seasons 1-6 were great, and I think SGU was on the way to revitalising that. This is my favourite fictional universe, definitely.
Harry Potter - the wizarding world is a fantastic creation and had depth, scope and interconnectivity which made it seem real.
Battlestar Galactica (new) - really interesting parallel world to our own, and Caprica showed us the colonies before the fall. A bit on the nose in its comparisons, but I enjoyed it.

There are plenty of stories I like set in universes I don't find that compelling or even original. Hunger Games falls into this category, a really gripping story with great characters, but set in a generic sci fi tyrannical government dystopia trope. Firefly is similar. Loved the show to bits but take away the literalised space Western thing and it is another rebellion against an evil empire.
Doctor Who is a strange one. I love the Doctor and some of the backstory and aliens are masterful ideas (tardis, daleks, angels, the time war). But broadly, I find the universe a bit... naff. Too British, and just a bit quaint.

Hhmmm...yea...guess I'm kind of a generalist too when it comes to Sci-Fi and/or fantasy. Other than Trek (all incarnations), in no particular order, I enjoy...

Doctor Who (Torchwood too)
BSG (both versions)
B5
Andromeda
Logan's Run
Hercules/Xena
Lost in Space (there's a moldy one for ya)
Space 1999 (not as moldy, but still pretty ripe)
Harry Potter
Hitchhiker's Guide
Twilight Zone/Night Gallery
Godzilla
OLD Flash Gordon's (aka Steve Holland era)
Buck Rogers /25th Century

Although not specifically "sci-fi", I get into a lot of other stuff as well....

The Avengers (the series with Patrick MacNee, Dianna Rigg, Honor Blackman, etc)
The Saint (Roger Moore...very cool)
Sherlock Holmes (both books/short stories and the Basil Rathbone/Nigle Bruce movies)

...yea...I need a life.

There were some SG-1 episodes that I did like. I'd probably have been more into the show itself if it wasn't for O'Neill's attitude. He was so snarky and sarcastic that it kind of put me off, to be honest.

Firefly is similar. Loved the show to bits but take away the literalised space Western thing and it is another rebellion against an evil empire.

This is assuming that the Alliance IS an evil empire, which is by no means certain. I don't think Whedon intended it as one, anyway.
