With this film taking a different timeline where does it leave TOS, does it mean that TPTB can reimage all trek after it new picard sisko janeway , new yet familiar federation it does open up endless possibilities can it co exist with our trek. Lots of films/tvshows have done it, could star trek do it could we even see maybe the captians of the enterprise b and c in show based on this timeline would be easy to bring it back start a freash and just do a new trek tv show after they do there 3 films.

Uh.. Personally, I wouldn't expect anything other than the TOS crew and ship. Don't hold your breath waiting for New Universe versions of Picard, Sisko, Janeway or Archer, because it's likely to be a long, long wait (perhaps another lifetime?) :)

Voyager could use a serious Ron Moore-esque reboot, but that'll never happen.

I don't see any reason for the characters in the other four shows to come back, since they're not the king of the mountain when it comes to Star Trek and Trek familiarity. Kirk and Spock are icons. Picard and Data may be really popular, but they just can't compare.

NO MORE TV shows for a lonnnnng time.

Let's keep Abrams Trek for at least a trilogy of movies.

We don't need to whore out anymore Trek to flood market.

Besides, people were pretty much burnt out on it when Nemesis was around. We do NOT want that to happen again.

TOS will be right where it's always been. I'd like to see Trek back on TV, but let's wait and see how this film does first.

Obviously, once this movie is released, all copies of TOS, TNG, DS9, VOY, and ENT, along with all the previous movies, will burst into flames, never to be seen again! It'll be like they never existed!

Also, run-on sentences make me cry.

The stars are signed on for 2 sequels... so lets get this trilogy over then get new people for a tv series... the last thing i want is a tv series that uses different actors than the movies (cause odds arenot all the actors will want to work on tv).

Trek should stay of tv at least until 3 movies with the current cast are done. (assuming Star Trek is successful enough to get sequels.)

Now it's not the time for Trek to get in the fierce battle for tv ratings. Let the movies do their, hopefully, successful job of creating new interest first.

Then I think it's time we got a serious attempt at some kind of animated Trek series.
How about the adventures of Captain Robau and the USS Kelvin ?:p

Agreed.

That gives us at least, 4 -5 years of no tv Trek. 2 years for/in between each movie sequel is enough to finnish the planned trilogy or what ever they end up doing.

Then maybe, they can think about a return to TV, but i doubt that is on their minds just yet, they have a re-born Trek franchise again, lets not scrifice that.

Lets get two more Robau movies out and see what happens.

Trek on TV is dead, unless we get kick ass producers/writers to helm it, but again, in the case of TNG and VOY, the uality dwindles so much its depressing to watch anymore. I dont want that to happen, Trek will become stale again.

As for the ongoing story of Star Trek, they may NOT have existed.

This is a new timeline.

Personally, tho', I like to think now that the TNG we knew might have been the result of the new timeline all along, only we never knew it.

Maybe TNG, DS9, and Voyager are still right where they've always been with little or no changes; the big question is "When the Defiant got hurled back in time, did Sisko meet Shatner, or Pine?" :p

What now for Star Trek?

Well, there's a movie opening next week.
Yep, and this forum is the place for discussing that movie. Any hypothetical "what now for Trek?"-type questions more properly belong in the aptly-named Future of Trek forum, so I'll close this and invite the OP to restart that topic there, if so desired.
