I watched it from the beach here, and the best bit was my friend's home-made imager (using bionoculars to project the image on foamcore) was to good you could see sunspots on the projected image. We then looked directly at it using a small set of binoculars through welding glass, and you could see the sunspots that way, too.
The weirdest part is looking the opposite way from the eclipse, since the light in coming from around the Moon and the center of the light source is blocked off, your shadows get this weird, wispy quality around the edges.
