I actually found out about it on this very web site.
I had my conference period at school and another teacher was using my room. I was in the cramped teacher's lounge and was goofing off on the board.
A thread title in TNZ caught my eye...WTC GOES BOOM. I wasn't sure what WTC was so I opened the tread.
Once I understood what had happened I went to the principal's office, but they had it on. On the way back to the lounge I saw the Library had there set on so I watched there. Saw the second plane,I think...may have just been the continued replaying.
When Third period rolled around, my class watched the TV as did 4th (we are on Block Scheduling.) We watched for a couple of days.
Since I couldn't get on any news site...too crowded, I kept up on it from here. Many eyes, many countries, truly universal coverage.
We had a couple of people who could see it from their places, one retired Navy who was near/helped at the Pentagon...unique coverage. A shame those threads are not available as an eye witness/archive for history.
