What makes you aggressive?

Know what? Its 4 AM, since a few hours I try unsuccesfully to fall asleep and cant because...of the loud snorring in the next room. I feel by now near the edge of a murder, really aggressive. I am tired! I dont fall asleep easily anyway, but with that horrific sound it makes it impossibel. I tried stuffing my head under the pillow and wapping the blanket around my head tightly (too hot and hard to breathe), to turn on music as loud as I dare (still can hear it, have good ears), distracting myself with thinking about ...things, but my thoughts get disturbed by that noise.

Loud snorring in the night is the most annoying thing in the world and never fails to bring my blood to boil....though there are other things, that have the same effect.

What makes you feeling aggressive? Are you easily feeling aggressive or does it take some "work"? Do you also act out your aggression or try technics to get calm again?

Belligerent, purposeful ignorance makes me aggressive. Belligerent, purposeful, condemning, arrogant, pointed ignorance makes me aggressive.

I don't know if I'd define it as aggression, but I get very defensive about people I care about. I also can get very worked up when I feel something is not fair, even if it doesn't regard someone I am close to. Those two situations can make me quite unreasonably angry.

Bullies; particularly those of an intellectual/social bent. More than a bit of that goes on around here. I also have a strong inclination to play devil's advocate. Show me the losing side and I want in on it.

Loud noises when I'm trying to sleep

Not having coffee

My favorite team losing a game

Customers in my store doing...well, anything, really

I know what you mean.
Though I wonder what you mean by Devil's Advocate. I sometimes see a thread where someone posts say, a pic of their friend saying that he looks like (celebrity) and about half a dozen people feel they must post "No..he doesn't look like (celebrity) even a little bit." So I'll jump in and say sure, he looks like so and so. I mean I have to agree that it does resemble the celebrity to a degree but whatever.
Some people feel it's their duty to post with any conceivable alternate viewpoint or loophole in other people's posts.

This, though not so much the devil's advocate bit.

People who sit in the fast lane but drive 20 km/h under the speed limit for no reason at all.

My teams getting flogged or losing stupidly.

Getting killed often/at the same point in a game.

If I'm at a table I will slam my fist/hand on the table.

Chauvinism of any kind, but especially by age and sex. It drives me crazy how people won't let you do/know/want something because you are not supposed to.
Fighting it boldly and consistently:cool::)

Certain sounds and noises, such as snoring, teeth-grinding, etc (it's called misophonia, look it up)

TV ads for debt advice, loans, credit reports...

Morons in the shops who park their trolleys sideways to block the aisle, and back out of the aisles right into your trolley without looking round...

People who harass women or animals.

Same here times a million!

I actually came back to this thread because I felt like expanding on the statement I made to Rii about agreeing with them, though not as much about the devil's advocate part. I thought about it for a while and realized I do the same thing often enough, but I associate with someone who takes it to disgusting extremes and it taints the notion somewhat.

He's literally taken up arms against people when they've told him about how mad they got when someone insulted a person with a learning disability, and it's obvious he only takes up arms in these sorts of matters to play devil's advocate. "In all honesty," he always starts with, and then it just enrages me from there.

I used to have a problem with animals running round in thge upstairs flat in the early morning. I found that those earplugs that expand inside your ear were highly effective, if you can stand somehthing in your ear.

The only problem is that you can no longer hear your alarm go off.

They buggered off anyway, and now the flat is an empty holiday home. Yay!

Ending up cornered in some fashion, in a situation that will not resolve itself, where no other option is feasible, and I have to do something about it right away.

Or there's a situation that I've had enough of that's become too pervasive and I won't stand for it anymore.

EDIT: Also, someone thinking or saying I'm something that I'm not. It automatically makes me want to say, prove, show, and/or argue otherwise.

I know what you mean.

Heh. Yeah, you were a victim of it recently.

I thought about it for a while and realized I do the same thing often enough, but I associate with someone who takes it to disgusting extremes and it taints the notion somewhat.

It can definitely be taken too far.

For me it's about the social dynamic as much as the argument itself. If there's five piling on one, then even if I agree with the five I'm unlikely to chime in to that effect. I simply take no joy in hitting someone when they're down like that, and the evident joy that some do take in coming together to 'mock the outsider' disgusts me. In such circumstances I'm more likely to jump in by picking at flaws in the arguments of those whose opinions I actually agree with, or lend support to the arguments of those I disagree with to whatever extent I can. It's all about levelling the playing field.
