What kind of stories would you like to see on this new series?

What kind of stories would you like to see on this new series?

Its going to be a continuing series with an ongoing story, so I assume it will having an going adversary to drive the main plot, but they could have some filler episodes where they deal with anomalies or something, well the main plot is furthered through sub plots.

As long as it's compelling and engaging, I don't care if it's nothing but a over zealous mob of Orions painting wheelbarrows.

It doesn't necessarily require an ongoing adversary because it contains a broader narrative arc.

Discovery could be on an extended mission at the edge of the frontier, encountering new worlds and species every episode of S1. It could be lost in uncharted deep space on the other side of the galaxy. The continuities and arcs could arise from a number of factors and be portrayed through responses to the adversities of the situation.

Whatever it is, I want it to be distinct and intelligent. Take risks and make it compelling. Boldly Go.

If each season is going to be a 'novel' told in chapter form, I want to see some deeper stories with lasting consequences for the heroes. For some the consequences will be deep, for others a particular season may chalk up as nothing more than a great 'sea-story' or day at the office- the interesting thing will be to see how the same event affects different members of the crew differently. There will also be time for character growth and the growth/change of various interpersonal relationships among the crew. As always, the arcs need to use fun, well-written stories to explore the human condition in us all. That's what Trek has really always been about.

I would like to see the stories focus more on characters that aren't part of the usual starship chain of command. That has been played out through four series already. My secret wish was that the main cast would be some sort of special team that traveled around the Star Trek universe, combined with an occasionally recurring guest cast. Missions where they got to go aboard a starship would be a big deal for them (and hopefully the audience).
