I'm a diehard Blue Jays fan that hits emotional rock bottom after every single loss. It gets to the point that I can't watch games when they start losing badly. I get so angry that I can't be around people... :p
Heh, I'm exactly like that with the Phillies and Penn State. Well, PSU more so than with the Phils, because I have to mope for at least a week before there's another chance at a win, whereas the Phils usually play the next day.

And it's fun to be watching games with friends who fall in the optimist category. They are usually saying "we'll get 'em next time" while I'm proclaiming "this team is the worse team in the history of bad teams". We usually end up in (good-natured) arguments, and I'm right back to rooting for the team the next game.

I guess I'm a pessimistic optimist, or is it optimistic pessimist?

Pretty much casual other than the Mets, whom I still crawl back to for the type of heartbreak I would divorce my wife for.

I don't watch much regular season or NCAA basketball, but love the playoffs and Final Four.

I don't care for college football, but will watch any good NFL game. I really like the Pats, but that may in part be because I moved to New England after suffering through shitty NY teams during my formative years and the Patriots being really good at that point.

Though I have spent way too much money on the Pats tickets the past couple years, and loved watching them last year even after all the injuries. I even did a Patriots themed jack-o-lantern for my Superbowl 41.5 party against the Colts a couple seasons ago.

Their loss in Superbowl XLII ranks up there right behind game 7 of the 2006 NLCS, so they may be reaching Mets territory.

At the same time, I don't spend my money on jerseys or any overpriced memorabillia. I don't call sports talk shows though I did listen to a lot of WFAN back in the day. And I think fans referring to teams as 'we' is ridiculous.

I'm a die-hard optimist.

This decade has been very good to me, starting with the Rams winning the Super Bowl in 2000.

The Angels won a World Series, and the Lakers have won 4 championships.

And to top it off, USC has had an unbelievable run in college football.

:techman:

My optimism as a fan got kicked into high gear this May when I got the chance to sit with the bleacher creatures at Yankee Stadium. It was the most fun I've ever had in my entire life. It was literally a life-changing experience.
