Oooh, thanks for that. I wasn't aware that the German version was already out. I think it's going to be a tough time getting used to all the new voices. But I like what they've done for the trailer. But didn't they mistranslate McCoy's line?

It's close enough. :)

I don't like Kirks and Spocks German voices.

Yup, it's pretty weird listening to them. They sound so ... young. And isn't it ironic that Pine got Matt Damon's German voice? It's also strange that they let Kirk address McCoy with 'Sie' when it really should be 'du'. Nero's and Pike's voices sound spot-on though.

Any info on when we will see that in the theater?

The cop is a 'Droid.... look at the number emblazoned on his forehead. (924)

That's why it's voice crackles through it's speaker-mouth.

Least that's my opinion and I'm stickin' to it! :p

By the way... jimmy has a nasty LISP as a kid..... "....My name is James s'Tiberius Kirk.."

You're right. :D Cool! I think I can live with that after all :)

You mean the 'schnallen Sie sich an!'?
It's not clear to me to whom Kirk addresses this... but if it's McCoy... they probably just met.

Yeah. Greenwood has a terrific German voice :)

No.

Yeah, that's the line. When watching said scene in slow-motion you can see that he's talking to McCoy. Of course storywise everything's possible, but since Kirk's wearing his gold uniform with the stripes of a captain I suppose this scene is from the end of the movie. I guess by then they should be friends who're not quite that formal to each other. Yes, I could be totally wrong, but that and the rather strange way Scotty says his two lines (they let it sound as if they are in sequence when the original clearly sounds like two lines coming from different scenes) let me think that this is merely a preliminary dubbing just for the trailer.

I guess we'll have to wait and see.

I have very little experience with the German language, but to my ear it sounded like the German-dubbed Scotty had a Scottish accent -- which is what I would expect.

Can any German Language experts (or native-speaking Germans) confirm this?

No, they didn't give him an accent at all. To an anglophone ear it might sound Scottish since I'd imagine German and Scottish share some phonetic similarities, but it really is just standard German. But then again, Scotty didn't sound Scottish either in the German version of the original series.
