#1 Doomsday Machine

#2 City On The Edge Of Forever

#3 Amok Time

Pretty much right up the same alley...especially if you're talking about the re-mastered ones with the new sfx. I watched "Amok Time" & "Doomsday" last night & they were FANTASTIC! The new scenes of Vulcan in AT are just beautiful & very faithful to what we've seen in STAR TREK III. "Doomsday" has ALWAYS been a favorite. Great music, VERY intense. The new sfx shots, particularly of the Constitution (or was it the Constellation?) with its' exposed superstructure are just gorgeous.

My favorites are:
1st Balance Of Terror:D
For its suspense and great performances.
2nd Journey To Babel:vulcan:
For it's emotions and plot.
3rd Errand Of Mercy:klingon:
A great sci-fi episode, indeed!

I can do a top two.

All-time favorite: Amok Time.

I'm a big-time Kirk fan, yet I still like this episode best. It's the one I kept seeing on the TV before I became a fan, and it's still my favorite because of the interaction between the Big Three, Kirk, Spock and McCoy. Cool sci-fi premise and some excellent action (and music). Kirk versus Spock to the death, and the solution? McCoy. It doesn't get any better than that.

Second favorite: The Empath

Again, wonderful interaction among the Big Three. A nice sci-fi premise and some ambitious special effects. And did I mention I was in love with Gem? Great episode.

COTEOF has always been my favorite. Why? Hard to say. It feels more like a movie to me and less like a TV show. I supposed that happened since they spent so much more money on it than on the average episode. I felt Kirk's pain when Edith died.

Other greats: Corbomite, Cage, Naked Time and Menagerie rank right up there.

I have to choose Balance of Terror. Wonderful performances and tension that was rarely seen after... even in Star Trek movies. Plus, this is the first episode I saw decades ago.

Second, Doomsday Machine. It's good to see something they can't communicate, understand or even know its motives. Pure destruction is the purpose of this thing.

Third, Amok Time. To see Spock smiling at the end is a wonderful sign of friendship. And the fact to know a little more about Vulcans without be boring is great.

Other mentions to "Fizzbin episode" that I don't remember the name, and City On The Edge Of Forever.

Have a good day:techman:

'Tholian Web'-a jewel in an oft-criticized S3, but not the only one-Great alien species, great SF concept in the Interphase, the drama of 'Kirk's death', and that 'tape scene'...'Balance Of Terror''-a tense, high-stakes action piece with some space conflict ongoing, Mark Lenard as the sympathetic Commander, and that last, great line to Kirk...''Arena'(Yes, I still like Rubbersuit Gorn) ''The Empath''-nice showcase of the love between The Trio...'Doomsday'-2.0 was better, but then, they all were, respect to Jim Rugg and co....I'll not overburden with more, but they're there...oh, and 'City'-no TOS fan can leave it out.

Wolf in the fold - A freaky take on a freaky mystery. Love it when Jack the Ripper takes over the ship. You will all die die die!!

The Paradise Syndrome
- Interesting story, which spans months. Great music too.

The Cage
- The one that started it all. Love the drama, and the action. A very important episode.

The Apple - Before you all start hitting me, it's probably a favourite of mine because it's (along with Return of the Archons) one of my first memories of a specific Star Trek episode. I watch it often.

Return of the Archons - above.

The Changeling - Loved how the whole episode takes place on the Enterprise. And the mind meld scene is one of my favourites of all of Star Trek.

I will say that I love every episode, even with the bad ones I always find something to like.

I even like The Way to Eden, and That Which Survives

Absolutely.
"Doomsday" has ALWAYS been a favorite. Great music, VERY intense. The new sfx shots, particularly of the {Constellation} with its' exposed superstructure are just gorgeous.
The remastering sucked out the "WTF" aspect of crappy FX, & allowed us to fully enjoy the characterizations and emotion of the moment IMO.

02. "The Menagerie, Part I"
03. "The Menagerie, Part II"
