What is your fav under appreciated DS9 episode?

Yeah, the Collaborator was indeed awesome.
Also
- Past Prologue
- The Sword of Kahless
- Valiant (yeah, I said it)
- Vortex
- Progress
- Once more unto the breach

What's the opinion of The Reckoning? I don't often see it get mentioned and IMO, it's one of DS9's best.

And dare I say it, I actually like Move Along Home.

I have a whole bunch of 'em, all excellent yet rarely recognized as such, like:

Vortex
Shadowplay
Body Parts
Bar Association
Business as Usual
The Abandoned
Crossfire
The Begotten (A-story only; the Kira B-story is totally unwatchable)
Statistical Probabilities (a lot people lump this great episode together with the garbage episode Chrysalis, which should never be done IMO)
Life Support

I think the overall story of reckoning was good. But the whole shooting energy beams at each other bit was rather lame in my opinion. A foreshadowing of the even lamer Dukat/Siko fight.

Liked em all esp The Abandoned

Life Support. There are some other under appreciated episodes that I like but this one is the best.

First that comes to mind is Valiant. I've seen people list this as the worst episode of DS9, which mystifies me since I think it's excellent.

Other:

Paradise
Life Support
Rules of Acquisition
Business as Usual
Sons and Daughters
The Darkness and the Light

Past Prologue, definitely. I just rewatched this recently for the first time in a while. It's really good. A strong character piece for Kira, and our first look at plain, simple Garak. Even the Duras sisters' cameo, while unnecessary, works fine within the context of the episode.

Destiny is understandably overlooked, but is a favorite of mine. I really enjoy the seamless blend of sci-fi and religious prophecy. There's even a clever B-story that builds on the theme of misinterpretation.

Children of Time asks some interesting questions and eschews the easy answers. For me that overshadows the questionable time travel premise.

Once More Unto the Breach. I think it's the best stand-alone Klingon episode DS9 produced, but you don't hear it mentioned very often.

I dunno if Visionary really counts as under-appreciated.

After conducting that survey a few months ago, I'm not sure my stock answer, Chrysalis, is actually as under-appreciated as I thought, either, though...

Yes, Destiny! Why do I always forget that one?

I always think of Honour Among Thieves. I really like it, but it's hardly ever mentioned around here, and when it is it's only an average episode. It's just a shame it had such a weak semi-sequel in the form of Prodigal Daughter.

Others that are underrated include

The Reckoning - Brilliant use of the Pah wraiths compared to the series finale, and better than many other Bajoran episodes
Valiant- I liked it. Ok..
Field of Fire
Destiny
Rules of Engagement
Babel
Dramatis Personae
Distant Voices- I've seen people list this as a horrible episode. I think its the best Bashir episode of the first 3 seasons, (apart from the Wire, which is more Garak/Bashir) and on a similar position to Cardassians in terms of quality.
Melora
Armageddon Game

There are really so few episodes that I consider bad, these are just some of the commonly average ones I think are fairly good.

Okay, I got one that really is under-appreciated: The Assignment. It's genuinely creepy and sometimes even scary: because it's a Torture O'Brien Episode, it's never 100% certain that something dreadful is not going to happen, if not to him due to his main character immunity then to Keiko or even to Molly. The foundation of the episode's awesomeness is Rosalind Chao's wicked performance against type, seriously one of the better turns on the show. Finally, it is the only time in DS9's entire run that the pah-wraiths were used effectively whatsoever, and the episode is almost (but not quite) good enough to justify the concept, which it turns out would have been better off thrown out, but that's another story.

I like the Iconian gateway episode where they team up with the JemHdar.

To The Death

There just isn't enough good combat away mission eps.

Battle of AR558 also awesome.

From what Ive read around the forums since I've been here I'd say:

Babel - I got a kick out of their nonsensical speaking. I'm pretty easily entertained, and this one kept me pretty well entertained.

Melora - I really liked her a lot. I was bummed in the end when she wasn't going to stick around. I wanted to see more of her.

Move Along Home - OK, the "Allamaraine" (sp?) part was pretty ghey, but I kind of liked the rest. It reminded me of old Trek. I didn't love it, but I thought it was pretty good.

I always thought Past Prologue worked better as an introduction to DS9 than the somewhat unfocused Emissary, so I'm glad to see some love for it.

That said, I hate seeing people slag off His Way as it's probably my favourite episode of the entire series.

Other great episodes that I think are under-appreciated:
The Assignment (I've never understood the Keiko hate);
Business as Usual;
Change of Heart;
Bar Association;
Facets; and
Explorers.

And while it seems people have warmed to them over the years, great season 7 episodes like Take Me Out to the Holosuite, Once More Unto the Breach, Badda-Bing, Badda-Bang and Chimera were unnecessarily slammed by fans for an awful long time for not being 'arc' episodes.

All the mirror universe episodes. I'm apparently the only person in creation who likes them.
