What is the ugliest ship in starfleet?

I always thought that 1701-D looked top-heavy (not that gravity is a consideration), and that its detail made it look like it was carved out of stone. Good to see that quite a few of you seem to agree.

1701-E is at least a step towards the "original" shape, and I prefer it.

The D was my least favorite design and I do agree that the E was a step toward retuning to aspects of the original design. Too bad it doesn't have a neck then it would have looked perfect.

The Centaur isn't so bad, it's the same design type as the Miranda and the Nebula, only it uses Excelsior parts instead of Constitution/Galaxy parts.

I thought Miranda had Excelsior-like nacelles and schemes....

To chime in on the loaded woeful topic of "worst Enterprise"... after receiving my SOTL2012 and seeing the miracles worked on the Ambassador in there, I have to bump down the Galaxy some more.

I've always been more of a fan of the long/sleek approach of ships, making the Sovereign and the Excelsior reign supreme on my list, followed closely by the "new" Ambassador, the Connie Refit, and, yes, the Abramsprise.

Though for what it's worth, I'll take a thousand Galaxy classes over the Akirapr-- the NX-01.

My personal vote for ugliest starfleet ship? The Yeager is a strong contender, but to shy away from kitbashes - I'm very much not sold on the Norway. It feels like such a composite of major deviations from Starfleet aesthetics; shape (especially beyond the saucer), color, nacelles; a cascade of aspects that merge into something rubbing me very wrong.

Yep, I'm a big Centaur fan, too. I just wish they wouldn't mix scales in their kit bashes.
One of the more ridiculous examples of scale-mixing was the conversion of the very pretty Executive Shuttle into the U.S.S. Jenolin by sticking on a pair of AMT Enterprise Refit nacelles along with some windows and greeblies.

It’s like trying to make a sleek Italian yacht look like the Queen Mary by plastering it with tiny portholes and putting three funnels on top.

Oh, and they should have fired the guy who got his filthy fingerprints all over the Jenolin model. I mean really, is that supposed to be “weathering”?

Have to categorize them I think.

Of the main/hero ships I think my least favorite is Voyager, I just always see an upside down spoon. I liked the original, more angular looking version much better.

Of the secondary ships (like Constellation, Nebula, etc) my least favorite is probably the Nebula. It has no sense of directionality to it. That's no doubt why they changed the mission module to an arrow-shape, to indicate "this way forwards".

Of the 3rd level ships, little seen, or kitbashes, the Yeager is pretty poor. Some of the Wolf-359 ships can be discounted as you can barely even see them on screen, they might as well have used some pieces of cardboard cut-out for most of the ones in the distance, would have saved the trouble.

As for my favorites.

Main ships. Enterprise-A, just lovely, perfect refinement of the original.

Secondary. Excelsior, has some really lovely long lines, and from the front looks very menacing, since it was an "adversary" ship in STIII this is perfect. Enterprise-C would be a close 2nd, have always liked the looks of it, and it looks good from multiple angles, well balanced.

Third. As far as the little seen or kitbashes, the Centaur type has nice lines, has much less of a jumble of parts type of feel to it.

That uninspired shoebox thing we saw on DS9 all the time.........

The Runabout, I think they called it........

ugghhh...........

Either that, or the T-15 box-shuttle from early TNG. :wtf:

Well, this is a hard question for me. I really like most designs (The Nebula class and Freedom classes are tied as my favorite class) but I think I'll have to say that I've never been a huge fan of the DS9 Constitution variant. I don't know what it is, really. It's not because its imbalanced, I like the freedom Class and its similar to this. I think that the Constitution class parts and 2 warp nacelles just don't go well together.

Hi @LFT11501 , we generally discourage bumping threads that haven't been posted in for more than a year, so I'm locking this one. Feel free to start a new thread on the topic.
