What is the reason for the existence of "Star Trek: very Short Treks"?

I just recently learned of that. I watched one episode because I read Takei did the voice of Sulu in it. It's one line and Takei sounds like he is 80 year old but Sulu looks like it's 1974.

The episode is a joke but it's based on one of the lowest episodes of ST (TNG holodeck in ENT finale). It's not a funny joke

Finally (or not) they make a point to say it's not canon, it's not to be ever confused with canon. OK, it's not canon nor it's funny a joke. It's also 2minutes including opening and closing credits. So what is it?

I don't get it. Maybe so people at the production have work to do idk

It exists because someone showed what a TAS version of TNG and VOY would be like. So Paramount decide to get in on it and do a homage in the name of celebrating the 50th anniversary of TAS.

However, as what tends to be increasingly the case these days, the fans did a better job at homaging a Star Trek property, in this case TAS, than the people that actually own Star Trek.

I must admit I’m still baffled just what this was supposed to be as well. It looked beautiful and the they got the wobbly sound of the 70s music sound right too, but the tone and humor was all over the place. There was an ongoing review thread in the TOS subforum if you’re looking for more discussion on the show. And from that I know that there’s lots of folks who enjoyed these episodes. I however thought they were just super weird and incredibly unfunny. I don't give a shit about its canon status, so for me it’s not about that. And I appreciated that they got so many Trek veterans to reprise their roles (and I couldn't care less about them sounding older), but it’s a shame the scripts couldn't have been better.

Primarily this, but they were also meant to be a tribute to TAS. The problem, however, was that the producers decided to adopt the attitude of ‘we’re going to make fun of TAS rather than give it a loving tribute.’ The end result being that anyone who watched VST without ever seeing TAS would not actually want to watch TAS after that. Imagine making a tribute to DS9 today where they’re treating the show as a big joke instead of highlighting its great qualities?

Translation: the producers are idiots.

TAS is shit.

No one is watching TAS because it is shit.

Paramount + is losing millions of dollars a day hosting 20 hours of bad animation that no one is watching.

This advertisement, Very Short Treks, dumped on youtube, is a ball of lies misrepresenting TAS, so that you will watch TAS on Paramount + because Paramount + thinks that you are a gullible idiot.
