What is the most amount of money

Miss Chicken

that you would feel safe carrying around?

A woman here in Australia had her life savings in her purse (it was either $125,000 or $150,000). She accidently left her purse in a shopping trolley and when she returned the purse was gone. Luckily for her the police have recovered most of the money and charged three people in connection with the theft of the money.

The woman said she had the money to buy a house. Who buys a house with cash?

The most I ever carry around on me is about $1,000 and even that is a rare event.

If I'm heading straight to the place where I'm going to spend it without stopping anywhere, anywhere up to £1000. I typically carry around £50 at any given time, and £200 at the most when I know I'm going to be spending some of it.

Mostly use debt card these days, I'll carry the same sixty dollars around in my wallet for months sometimes. Only time I ever use paper money anymore is in vending machines.

When I'm in a foreign city, I wouldn't be comfortable with that, but here I often have a couple hundred € in my pocket. I have a debit card, but I almost only use cash.

My father is a lawyer and his clients often pay in cash, so he sometimes has thousands of euro in his pocket, I would be nervous about that.

And this is more than I would be comfortable at having at home. ;)

Druglords...?

My mother bought a new car in cash once because the dealer gave her a better price that way - I'm guessing so he could do something possibly not 100% legal tax-wise with it.

I don't usually have more than $100-150 in my wallet, just no need for it. I pay for everything i can with a credit card, much easier that way, plus I get the cashback rewards, so like getting 1-2% off of everything I buy...

Under $200. I typically don't tend to carry more then $50 in cash as I tend to use my card for everything except minor purchases.

I seldom carry more than $40 cash. You can pay for just about everything with a credit or debit card these days. Hell, even hookers take credit cards. (At least, that's what I've heard.)
;) ;)

In the U.S. if you pay over $10,000 in cash for a car (or even anything else, I think), the law requires the seller to report it to the Internal Revenue Service. It's intended to catch drug dealers who may be laundering money. Really.

I've had a few thousand on my person a few times, but I went deposited it pretty quickly.

It's been so long since I carried any bills I can't believe I even have a wallet anymore. So... $0.00

Really, what more do I need to carry around other than a debit card and driver's license? My wallet is obsolete, really, so (thanks to this thread) I'm parking it starting tonight :borg:

I never have more than 60 euros, I don't need more in cash, actually I often have close to nothing in cash, I pay nearly everything with a debit card.

My father was a construction worker and he often worked illegally. He once had 30 000 FF (4500 euros) hidden in the 1st aid kit of his van and his favorite game was to pay me an orange juice with a 500 FF (75 euros) note (the highest available).

I carry around $20 in my pocket. I have cards for major purchases, and the cash is for any time where there may not be a card access point.

I use a debit card for almost everything, even at the drive-thru window of Wendy's. So, I seldom have more than $40 cash on me any more. I don't even think I'd feel comfortable carrying around a large amount of cash. Besides, who wants a fat wallet?

The most I would routinely carry on my person these days is about $500, and only because most people on craigslist don't take cash or credit cards.

Cash on hand: $50 in small bills, the rest on the bank debit (if grocery shopping paying bills) or a greendot card (big ticket purchases, or purchases with a retailer/seller that I don't have experience with)

I almost always use my debit card, so there's no real need to have any money.

I usually have some coins in my wallet, but not more than around $10 dollars, and if it does happen that I have a 200-kroners note, which is about $33.6380 USD according to xe.com

I usually don't carry cash at all.

If somebody *gives* me cash, I'll put it in the bank (unless it's less than twenty bucks, in which case I'll spend it).

Although when I'm in New York City, as I often am, I do have to carry cash, as there's some places I go (like my favorite deli) which don't take cards.
