Spoilers What is the connection between Doctor Soong and Khan Singh?

I think the show was implying that Adam Soong was the creator of Khan in the Nineties.

I mean, they do have suspiciously similar names.

This would also make La'an possibly a relative of the Soong family.

What do you guys think?

Singh is a suffix/surname that means Lion, that the Sikh use to identify themselves.

Khan is a Tiger from the Jungle book.

His name is Tiger Lion.

Although they rarely meet in the wild, lions and tigers are still so closely related that they are able to interbreed, and in captivity they occasionally do. But successful interbreeding is the key, and the hybrid offspring are usually sterile and short-lived.

Khan is a Mexican dude that can pass for white.

If a Mexican dude that can pass for white marches into India, and unites it with Pakistan and want's to hold that shit together, what we learned from Alexander the Great is: You marry a local girl in line for the throne anyway, and convert to her religion.

I'm going to say that his real name before the genetic manipulation and putting Asia to the sword was "Ian Noon".

Just thankful that La'an doesn't look like Brent Spiner in a wig. (No offense, Brent.)

She should have Lal and Soji's haircut.

Also known as the Sci-fi Bob.

I think he was involved in the eugenics project that eventually produced Khan in the 90s and was preparing to go back to them after Soji left him, but I think the folder being dated 1996 was just a nod to the TOS line and they've moved Khan into our future.

Seems about right to me. Soong was clearly interested in eugenics and genetic engineering and the folder was him returning to that research.

I think its best to not think too much on it; these showrunners are making it up as they go. Frankly none of this shit makes sense from the stand point of TOS but in this new CBS + universe the file with very extra large fonts pretty much gives a solid notion Adam is the creator. Didn't enterprise alluded to this possibility? I thought I saw Spiner in an ENT episode dealing with supermen, but it could've been Rene Auberjonios? Meh!

Allude? No. It literally had a Soong descendant breeding supermen. All Picard did is show the roots of that interest with a Soong ancestor.

This is not strange. It fits very well with the Trek universe at large. Save for TOS which doesn't really fit in with TNG forward.

The ‘Khan Project’ file was from 1996, the same year that the Botany Bay was launched in ‘Space Seed’ and the same year Khan himself states that he’s from in TWOK. So how can PIC be implying that the Eugenics Wars now take place in the 21st century?

The dates could have been easter eggs, or maybe a miscommunication between the art department and writers.

I don’t think it was an Easter egg. The file looked old, and the 1996 date matches the old-style Manila folder the paper file was kept in.

Easy. The wars (plural) didn’t end just because Khan left in 1996.

Sure, I can accept that logic. However, the fact that there had to be at least one ‘war’ that caused Khan and his followers to escape Earth in 1996 makes moving the rest of the wars into the 21st century kind of pointless.
