what is the best star trek game you have played?

Elite force! i love holomatch. i still play it with the expansion pack, i have elite force 2 aswell

also ... BOTF can be easily had without purchasing it... and if you have a copy I highly suggest making backup copies so you always have one... store your original

Its price on ebay is evidence of juist how good that game is...

Well, its evidence of how rare the original disc is. I don't think its worth $100 though.

Tough question. Between Elite Force and A Final Unity, I go with Elite Force in the end. Of course I still haven't played DS9: Fallen. Some Niner I am. :(

The disc is rare because when Activision lost the Trek license they were ordered to recall ALL copies of Trek games on the shelves. Believe it or not while Bridge Commander is a rare game, the rarest are Elite Force 2 and Starfleet Command 3 because they were released only weeks before the court ordered recall was issued.

Judgement Rites, 25th Anniversary and Star Trek: Klingon are the only Star Trek games I've ever fully enjoyed.

25th Anniversary and Judgement Rites are STILL two of the best adventure games ever made. I regularly replay them in DOSBOX on rainy weekends. Those games are just great. A Final Unity is awesome in it's own right... just kinda tough to pick up and play, unlike 25th and JR.

Elite Force and EF2 are both excellant FPS's, and I'll occasionally play them...

Anybody remember Star Trek: BORG? I recently found the discs for that game... it was kind of a laugh, but I think it's considered canon so might be worth a replay one of these days...

Also, I spent more time in the original Interactive Technical manual and the updated Omnipedia discs than pretty much anything when I was kid... so awesome for their time.

Yeah, I even liked "Starship Creator." For a while. :shifty:

Ahhhh Starship Creator... I didn't play it too much... I was actually creating my own meshes at the time in 3DSMax and throwing them into scenes in Lightwave and Bryce. I was a real smart-ass 14 year old kid back then... I actually wish I'd stuck with it, I was pretty good at it. I had about 15 original ship designs, some kitbashes, but a lot of cool stuff...

Did you ever read the book "Star Trek: Ships of the Fleet?" It contained mostly movie-era ships, but was a real inspiration for me back then... the coolest thing I ever made was a shuttle carrier... the inspiration was this stretched Miranda class ship from that book that had like 3 shuttle bays on each side of the aft hull... very cool stuff.

Anyway, did you know they came out w/ a sequel to Starship Creator called Warp 2? It wasn't very publicized and sold poorly, but had a ton more ships and a lot of extra freedom is what you could do with them and who you could crew it... like having Picard, Kirk, Sisko AND Janeway all on the same ship doing different duties.

Do you mean Jackill's Ships of the Fleet? I have one of those. I really like his work.

And, I didn't know about Warp 2.

Not quite sure about the Ships of the Fleet publisher, but it was like 11"x17" and had big diagrams of all the ships... it was very cool. Unfortunately I've torn most of the pages out when I was modeling back in the day, so I don't think I even had the covers anymore... I think it had a goldenrod cover.

Here's some more info on Warp 2:

Also, it's going for around $100 on ebay and amazon right now... crazy! I should sell my discs.

Wow, that's amazing. $20-30 used. I picked up Warp2 a year ago for 2 or 3 dollars + shipping.
It's virtually impossible to run it in XP, though. Installs fine, but then XP can't find the disc at launch. There's no easy workaround.

I bet it runs in Windows 7. I haven't found much that doesn't... such a fantastic operating system.

The Fallen is a decent game, one of the better Trek ones. My personal favourites are A Final Unity and BOTF (when I can get it to install and work properly that is). Elite Force was pretty good too though the final boss was damned annoying.

Armada 1 was enjoyable, but I never got the hang of the controls in Armada 2.

I'm afraid the best star trek I've played was fasa's starship combat game and it's sister the role playing game both non- computered.
havent played them in years mind.
tried bridge commander but gave up when I couldn't get past the saving of a frieghter near the begining.

I played FASA's game throughout high school and remember it fondly. Back then I chose it over Star Fleet Battles because it offered the movie era as well as TOS. Sure the ships they came up with were ugly, but the game offered complete construction rules so you could replace them with your own.

Today I prefer SFB with its greater tactical depth, but FASA's game isn't a bad runner up.

Elite Force 1+2 are both, like all Raven games, top notch shooters that have a real love for Star Trek.

BotF was great but I never *loved* it. The first Armada was pretty awesome but couldn't compete with other RTS games.

I've been playing a bit of BC recently and it's pretty good fun, although I haven't got the hang of the combat just yet!

Never got why people crapped thier pants of Starfleet Aacdemy games, 2D space battles bore me to tears.

A Final Unity ruled!

Judgment Rites RULED!! Everybody remember Trelane attacking us with an old WW1 plane in space? :techman:

It's been years.

I've been in interested in the mmo for a while now, glad to see it's getting close!

I heard it won't be out until at least mid-2010 now... I think they said something about that at E3... I have a feeling it'll fizzle anyway... they needed to launch it in concert w/the new movie... they've been behind schedule with Online since they day they started production... my hopes are not exactly high.
