What Is or Might The Next Movie Be About?

TRON JA307020

Vice Admiral
Admiral
I hope they go with something different. Even though I haven't been a fan of the new movie I have given them a chance and will give the 3rd one a view. I hope the new movie will have them in deep space, meet a totally alien being or reuse a old TOS story(As long as its done well).

When STID was being produced many thought that they were going to do a take on "where no man has gone before". I actually would have liked to see that. It would have been something that hasn't been done in previous movies. Basically they could do it on a larger scale. After Gary receives his powers he could cause either galactic chaos, chaos on a alien world or chaos on earth. OF course all those could happen after he causes chaos on the Enterprise. Any thought on what you guys want to see or don't want to see in the next film?

My Idea was to have NuTrek III be called Guarding Forever and have it be a mission that introduces Gateway and the Guardian.
The idea was have someone other than the Enterprise find the Guardian and start messing with time and the Enterprise and it's Crew seems to be constantly shifting it's role/mission etc at first the changes are noticeable only to the audience but as they get more frequent and more drastic it begins to dawn on the crew thet things are becoming strange they're having residual memories of the previous shift and how history is getting blurry.
Eventually the nature of the distortions becomes clear and they trace it to the Guardian's planet. Spock finds that luxury vessel had been destroyed as a result of the "ripples in Time" and a lifeboat containing a group of passengers landed on the Guardian Planet they discovered the Guardian and tried to save themselves from starvation and exposure by leaping into the past each one making inadvertent changes to time. Kirk's landing party is then tasked with collecting each of the lost passengers until time is set back to it's proper course.

It would be nice if Earth wasn't seen or a part of the next movies, the ship is in deep space on it's five year mission.

Maybe start out at Yosemite, with the crew on shore leave ...

It would be really nice if they'd do an original story. You know, so we don't have to listen to another decade or so of bitching about yet another rehash. ;)

If we get yet another recycled story idea, you're definitely going to hear bitching.

Well deserved bitching too.

As long as it's a good movie, why does anyone care where the plot originates?

I'm secretly working on "The Omega Glory" remake for Star Trek 3!

Somehow I don't see Pike, Quninto and Urban sitting around a fire, singing "Row your boat" badly and then run off with a 70s-style cult leader (who's also Spock's half brother) to look for "god" sitting around on a planet.

.....and this realization has suddenly given me a whole new appreciation of the reboot.

How about a remake of Spock's Brain? Patterns of Force? ST IV: Save the Whales?

All the rumours say the new film takes place during the 5-year mission, but apparently they are also casting a Federation president. If that president plays a role in the plot, perhaps it's an escort mission to a vital galactic peace conference. All sorts of possibilities for conflict and intrigue there... Just so long as they don't just remake TUC.

I don't want to see any TOS-style god-like aliens. Or Q. That stuff is just silly. And no more time travel, at least for a while.

Personally, I could go for a TOS-style faux god. It's been a long time and those episodes were always entertaining.

^ TBH, I think it's unlikely. These days it seems more of a Marvel universe possiblity.

This recent article about Pegg gives me hope, as he seems to have a fairly humble and respectful attitude about his task.

I’m walking into a realm that doesn’t belong to me, and I have to treat it with a degree of respect. Obviously, I always treat things with respect, but I have to abide by certain rules and do right by the original series, and not be too post-modern with it and not be too aware of itself. I have to try to take on the spirit of the show, rather than fill it with stuff that people will just go, ‘Oh, yeah, that’s from episode something or other.’ It’s more than that.

So hopefully that means it won't be a TUC remake.

I'd like an episode which opens with a strange spaceship approaching the enterprise, boarding, then knocking everyone unconscious. McCoy phones up from sickbay telling Jim to get down there - and we find Spcok, with someone having STOLEN HIS BRAIN!

Some of my favorite Trek is when initially the big three beam down to a planet that greats them, but then Kirk discovers something is not quite right and then when Kirk starts snooping around, they are imprissoned or something. Meanwhile, in orbit, there's other problems either with the ship itself or the ship is under attack. We got some of that with TWOK, but I'd like to see a little more. To me, it's great when the crew are split with the big three in danger while simultaneously the people who remained on the ship are also in danger. That would give Scotty a chance to take the captian's chair and Uhurah to be separated from Spock while Kirk, McCoy and Spock are in their own trouble and McCoy can argue with Spock. These movies have left McCoy little to do, I want to see him play a bigger role.

Yeah, I think it's agreed that while McCoy had some great scenes, he hasn't had a big hand in the plot. But for that to happen, there'd have to be a medical aspect to the plot of the new film. And also, yes, more arguing with Spock, if only to see if they can find a new way to do that.

I'm not entirely sure there is going to be a next movie. Abrams went on to do the star wars movie.

I most definately hope there will be a next movie though.

I am not really sure what I want to see, other than I don't want it to suck.

I can say what I don't want to see, and I agree with eyeresist: no god beings or time travel, please. We've officially had 1 movie with Romulans and 1 movie with Klingons (which also had Khan AND a corrupt Admiral of Section 31) since 2009, so I would like to see a different enemy/antagonist. And I really don't want to see the Borg, either.

The only case I would be for a plot that is centered on either a godlike being OR a rehash of a TOS plot, is if it were loosely based on Gary Mitchell. Before STID came out and anyone knew better, I remember the rumors that Mitchell would be involved, and I thought that was interesting.
