I'd go for something yet to be done with these films: instead of ripping off TOS films, take a few TOS episodes and toss 'em in the blender!
Elba's Daystrom is aboard the Enterprise (at a starbase, NOT Earth!) to test the M-5, the ultimate computer. The damned thing malfunctions and locks the ship into maximum warp, and then beyond maximum warp, taking the Enterprise where no man has gone before.
Scotty and Daystrom get the Enterprise out of warp, though the ship is now in truly uncharted territory. A solitary planet awaits, devoid of life but for one pocket of the perfect nitrogen/oxygen atmo.
The ship is hailed by a voice announcing the name of the planet, Gothos, and inviting the crew to join its squire, Trelane, for entertainment in his castle. The crew is beamed down, and find the mysterious Trelane, played by Ricky Gervais.
