What is it you currently hold precious in your life and why ?

KL700

Lieutenant
Apart from the obvious and predictable, but admirable (your
family and having good health), what is it that you (seriously
or humorously) hold precious in your life and please say why ?

We lost our beautiful 20 yr old nephew a couple of years ago and almost lost our amazing beautiful son the year before that...i really have no other answer other than my kids, happy, healthy and alive. I hold them as most the most precious things in my life. Not the answer you were looking for, but there it is. Nothing else matters more to me. I did take them for granted until what happened happened. Now I no longer do that.

Well, them and my ring. It is precioussssssss.......

My CD collection means a lot to me. Been working on it since the age of 10. I may be biased, but damn it must be the finest music collection anywhere in the world.

Aside from the obvious...
...life in general is most precious to me. With so many accidents, injuries and accumulated damage to my health I'm amazed and surprised to still be standing and able to experience a life I'd never dreamed possible as a child.

The one woman in my life, the one I fear will leave my life for good very soon.... :sigh:
... and she's right here on the TrekBBS. :adore:

Aside from that, I guess I value my memories and personal skills, my musical ability, the current quality of my living, the files on my computers, and the friends who haven't yet turned against me. Not necessarily in that order. :bolian:

Mine is nothing original, the most precious thing (if a person can be a thing) is my wife, this year will be our 24th wedding anniversary. The reason for being precious is too obvious but its love. Of a more material nature we have a very small collection teddies that has become a part of us and our lives. On a personal item list is my film collection, I have loved movies since I was a kid.

Well you said not to say the obvious, but in this day and age, I think everyone wants to say it :)

So...obviously my family and friends, but mostly my husband. We will celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary this year and he means more to me than anything else!
{congratulations to you too, Neutral Zone for your 24 wonderful years}:)

I also hold family photos and videos as precious. We have converted all our family photos to digital format and are working on the rest of the family's albums. And we have converted most of our family VHS tapes as well to dvds.

Nothing. I'd care if I lost my DVD collection, music collection, instruments or my computer, but it wouldn't be the end of the world. There aren't even any people that are precious to me (not even family or friends, or myself either), unless cats count as people. Maybe I'm just a little bitter.

I kinda feel the same way...it is horrible to feel this way though.

My cat is the only thing I care about at this point.

Baseball. It's given me a new lease on life. I found something I can be excited about. I never had that before.

I wish I'd been into baseball when I was a kid. I could have seen THIS live...

I treasure my friends... I only have a few good ones.

I also treasure my computer data so I have multiple copies at home and offsite backups.

I still hold dear my family and friends, but I certainly have noted that I feel less these days. Not sure what to make of it.

I think my problem is I need to be further along in life...good career, home of my own & starting a family of my own...and the fact that none of that has come close to happening yet...it makes me not really care about anything. Every day it gets worse and things keep happening to keep me further from being able to do something about it...I need a miracle.

MLB, that is so interesting. I would have sworn you were a lifelong baseball fan. It is awesome that you've found something new to be excited about! That's what the new Star Trek movie did for me....brought something exciting back into my life. I'm so happy for you! :) Everyone needs something really fun in their lives! :bolian:

I hold those times when I am free to be myself as most precious. In my job I'm basically paid to be fake for 8 hours a day (customer service). It's nice when I don't have to do that.

I think I've been feeling like this as well. It makes me feel cold, and lost.

It was said in the OP, but my health is precious to me. My intelligence is as well. I'm certainly not one of the smartest people around, but there are things I take for granted because I know I'm smart enough to handle them. There are opportunities available to me because of my intelligence. That's certainly precious to me.

Thanks, YR! That is one of the nicest things anyone's ever said to me. :)

And I know I say this a lot, but there was one thing in particular that I really enjoyed - sitting with the Bleacher Creatures in Yankee Stadium. That was, literally, a life changing experience for me. It made me even MORE of a Yankee fan. :techman:

Here is an example of what I mean. I am even IN this video, although you can't really see me 'cuz the camera pans out too quickly (I'm sitting about three rows behind the shouting bald guy - that's Bald Vinny, our leader :borg: ). [yt]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xvOTBo85y08[/yt]

And I'm still working on my ultimate goal in life - to see a game at every baseball park in the major leagues. Next stop: Target Field in Minnesota.
