What instrument was used for that jangly incidental music

[The Squire of Gothos]

I can't rummage up a clip on Youtube and have no means of ripping something from my DVDs. Last scene I heard it on was in The Cage, when the Talosians are watching the crew for the first time.

The instrument produces a jangly string sound. Makes me think of a very loose guitar string being plucked. Maybe it was a guitar, I've no idea what sort of equipment might affect it to produce that sound.
