What if Trek Had this This Style of Music?

Acenos

Lieutenant Commander

I already know that this series had Orchestral music in it's history, but what I'm going for here is the Style of the Music. And I mean Composed or Orchestrated in this particular style as demonstrated in the following:

And I mean Hearing this style of music in the Original Series/Animated Series era in the Prime Timeline instead of the cheesy/campy music of the late 60's and early 70's.

While I appreciate your enthusiasm, you might want to dial it back a little. Just posting a bunch of videos isn't a great way to start a discussion.

Posting 4 times in a row is definitely too much, so give people a chance to discover your thread.

Well, I certainly take exception to the assertion that the music on TOS was either cheesy or campy. I often listen to it while online. The suite for "Is There in Truth No Beauty?", which I'm listening to now, for example, is very beautiful music. Not good to start a discussion by insulting the existing standard.

I'm not really sure how to answer the question anyway - basically "what if Star Trek was scored with 80s video game music?" What kind of answer are you looking for? It seems like you just wanted to share your favorite video game music and decided insulting the classic TOS music that we all love was the best way.

If anything, some scores got reused - another poster found another show had the TOS theme before TOS was made and for that show it sounded generic! The Courage theme, as with any piece of sound, can feel generic one show but feel iconic to another.

Not unlike TMP and TFF's music feeling more like TNG's - at the time TMP felt a bit off, where was the iconic music? Then comes TNG several years later and it felt natural from the get-go. Despite being the same tune.

I'm only listening to a few seconds of each. First post only.

This would fit the Berman Era pretty well, but would feel out of place in the Kurtzman Era.

This would fit one of the movies. Or maybe a Short Trek.

That's not Star Trek.

I could only see this as being on Star Trek if they were on the holodeck. Or a parallel Earth in TOS if it were a pre-20th Century level society.

Not only "No" but "Hell No!" That's not Star Trek.

I'm going for orchestrated version of VGM music not the original source

Looking at a couple 9f the videos and knowing some others from their games/general pop culture, I don't really see a pecific "style" here, rather it's just music from various Nintendo games.

There is an arcade-style beepy version of the Disco theme that I've heard just before the S1 end credits, but I can't find it anymore
