Definitely. As they were evacuating, you know there were at least a 1000 Vulcans who called out, "Quick, don't forget to bring my favorite set of bells!" To which the Vulcan wife rolls her eyes and the husband Vulcan emphasizes, "They were a gift from my mother!"
You have clearly been there. Remember Dave Barry's moving column, where he said they kept the "cardboard mines of Peru" in operation and that they still had their mint-condition collection of 1978 Visa statements: "...try replacing THOSE at today's prices!"

But bagpipes are majestic, or mournful. They evoke feelings.
Bells just twinkle and make my hears hurt.
I suppose it's only a matter of time before some enterprising YooToober sets the "Spock loses it on the bridge" scene from the movie to the "Amok Time" fight music.
