what if the Enterprise-D was damaged during "Face of the Enemy"?

JamesSmith

Lieutenant Commander
what if the Enterprise-D was damaged, resulting in the loss of her forward half of the saucer section but the bridge section is left intact, during "Face of the Enemy"?

Take a look at your sentence:

"what if the Enterprise-D was damaged, resulting in the loss of her forward half of the saucer section but the bridge section is left intact, during "Face of the Enemy"?"

Since that did not occur, that is a contrary to fact statement. In proper English, that should be in the subjunctive or conditional mood.

Correct:

"What if the Enterprise-D were damaged...?"

Please remember this next time you post.

what if the Enterprise-D was damaged, resulting in the loss of her forward half of the saucer section but the bridge section is left intact, during "Face of the Enemy"?

Well, it seems to me that were that to happen, the Enterprise would be damaged, resulting in her bridge being intact, despite the loss of the forward half of her saucer section.

Losing the forward half of her saucer means, of course, that the forward half of her saucer would be gone.

Then Weseley's punitive duty of cleaning the windows of 10 Forward would be suspended until NCC-1701 D could reach drydock...

Unless of course he was cleaning the windows when this theoretical damage occurred. If that were the case, there would be much rejoicing.

Major Rakal would be, like, "Yo, Picard, wazzup with your ship?", and then Picard would be, like, "Troi, izzat you? GTFO that romulan ship! I need you here, I lost my forward half!", and then the other romulans would be, like "OMGWTF she's not a romulan?" ...and then, hilarity ensues.

The Sombrero would move forward to cover up the hull breach as though it were a bald spot, while Robau stood in front of the breach so that the air would be too frightened to leave the ship. The dolphin crewmembers from cetacean ops would then repair the breach with... I dunno...super glue squirted from their blowholes.

You mean Chuck Norris? If he was captain, the ship wouldn't need a deflector sheild.
