What if the "Children of Time" had continued to exist?

This is partially a plug for my new thread blog in Fan Art, but I'm namely I'm looking for your thoughts as I take on this little project with my ample amount of summer free time teaching English to Japanese school children not in session. I'm going to explore this concept using Sim City--- but what do you think would have happened? What would have happened to Worf's decedents? How large would the society have grown? Would they have eventually tried to rejoin the federation? Would they have been susceptible to Dominion threat?

I think the Dominion would have given the planet a miss. Given the planet's turbulent atmosphere, it's not likely to make a safe, stable military base, and extracting resources from the planet itself would be too troublesome.
