What if Picard Died and Riker Became Captain?

we already saw what happened - the borg took over the Federation! "Parallels" sets it in stone. and if it happened after "Best of Both Worlds" then Riker would have made some other mistake. how about if Riker were captain for "Darmok"???? that would have been the end of the Enterprise.

Riker would have pushed aside Picard's dead body and, taking his chair, would have said, "I'm your Captain now".

Then he would have cruised around getting into fights and doing women like Captain Kirk.

Ah . . . no. If you recall, there was another Captain Riker, the one where Worf was XO, and their universe did not suffer the same fate of the Borg/Riker universe you refer to.

As for the "Darmok" incident, I think Riker is smart enought that he would've figured out the same thing. Remember, Picard had longer contact with the Tamarian captain, and that's how he was able to figure it out.

Of course, all this is just a fun exercise in conjecture, so maybe you're right that Riker would've been too thick to make the connection.

Still, it would've been interesting to see Riker yell to Gul Madred in "Chain of Command, Pt. 2": "THERE . . . ARE . . . FOUR . . . LIGHTS!!!"

ok so riker might have gotten through "Darmok" but what about dealing with Q? what would Riker have done in best of both worlds?" Could he have rescued Spock and Vulcan from the Romulans???
