I want to see the Kirk/Spock/McCoy relationship cemented in solid rock. I completely agree that Scotty should never be used again for comic relief. The McCoy Character was always better at it, but don't turn him into a fool. Chekov can be the fool if they writer's really need one.
Agree the we need two more woman in small roles, tone the bridge down a bit and give Scotty a refitted engineering palace.
Story-wise, I don't need Klingons but am fine with that if it is done well. I'd prefer a bad guy who turns out not to be bad at all (a la Corbomite Manuever.) I don't need a lot of science or action sequences in my Star Trek, but I do need the sensation that these people are deep in a vast outer space, and only their wits and a bit of technology can save them.
If Star Trek never saves the Earth again that would also be welcome.
