Very well where do i begin?
Today was the day, 2 years of waiting in pure unadulterated anticipation for the next Star Trek movie to come out. I EVEN GOT MY "Totally against all things Sci Fi Fiancee" to come along which was good. I mean the build up today was extreme, everthing was star trek, star trek, star trek. So we finally get there and it starts. BANG!!!!!

This movie was meant to show us the "ORIGINS" of the original crew and how they came to be. And if that wasn't the original way, i'd sure like to know how they bloody well got assigned on the Enterprise in the first place. half were by pure coincidence or luck. (AS YOU CAN TELL I SERIOUSLY NEED TO TALK TO SOMEONE ABOUT THIS)

Clearly JJ ABRAMS has absolutely NO APPRECIATION FOR STAR TREK AT ALL to have a script written like that and actually go ahead with it. Dont get me wrong i absolutely LOVED IT, but... (THIS IS WHERE YOU STOP READING IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THE MOVIE YET)

We saw the ANNIHILATION of 2 (TWO) PLANETS- NOT 1, 2!!!!!
One is Romulus just after becoming closer friends to the Federation and the other.... is not some puny planet we've never heard of its VULCAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OF ALL THE PLANETS IN THE GALAXY WHY VULCAN??????????? What have they done?
So much for star trek canon!!!!

That means EVERYTHING that ever happened in TNG, DS9 or VOY involving Vulcans..... NEVER HAPPENED!!!!!

No Ensign Vorek on Voyager, Probably no Valeris in Undiscoverd Country, no baseball playing all Vulcan crew from DS9. (I THINK YOU GET THE POINT)

It's an alternate reality/alternate timeline/alternate universe.

I would not have minded seeing a true "TOS origins" movie, but obviously this movie isn't meant to be that. However, that doesn't necessarily mean it's a bad film, it just means it isn't an film that shows the origin of TOs.

Oh well -- life goes on. I suggest that if it is a good movie, just enjoy it. Who cares if it's not an origin film as long as it's a good film.

Pretty much everything ever could be done better, doesn't mean it wasn't good.
Frankly it's better this way. Things can change without affecting the original time line and getting a load of fans fucking whinging about how it doesn't fit with continuity, and you can have dramatic tension and not just think "Well Spock lives to be at least 180, Scotty is around in TNG, and McCoy too."
