What happened to the USS Farragut?

Reasonable assumption: U.S.S. Farragut was at Vulcan, and got fragged with the other ships there.

Possibility: Some crew (including Gaila, please) escaped in shuttlecraft and/or escape pods.

Probability: Many of them ended up escaping to Vulcan, and died later anyway.

But not Gaila. She was in one of the shuttles that beamed up a couple of Vulcans and ditched when the stuff hit the fan. ;)

I don't think Uhura's tone was meant to imply she was upset about being assigned to the Farragut more so she was upset that she wasn't assigned to the Enterprise.

And I find it immature when people don't pay attention to the dialogue of a film. Guess we're even. Try debating a point next time rather than simply reposting the same thing because it's spamming by definition. I don't care if you agree with me or not.
My responses were to different replies and just happened to have the same text, so by definition it wasn't spamming.

We never saw the Farragut destroyed onscreen so it is not canon that it was destroyed. For all we know someone on the Farragut realized it was a trap and the ship dropped out of warp.

Why does Kirk have to be the only person in the Federation who isn't retarded?

Kirk might have served aboard the Farragut during one of those cadet internship thingies they always seem to be doing in Starfleet. One theory mentioned in another thread speculates that Kirk could have gotten a field commission to acting Lieutenant while aboard (by Captain Garrovick, perhaps?) Not supported by anything, mind you, it's just speculation, but that might ease the blow of the insta-promotion, if you had multiple Starfleet captains saying "yeah, this kid is that good."

As for Uhura, I don't think she was disgusted by the Farragut; rather, she was pissed that her secret lover Spock didn't think to make sure she was posted to Big-E. (Hmmm, distant, unemotional, doesn't think about what she needs/wants.... methinks that relationship is toast.)

Obviously, it got blasted as soon as it dropped out of warp. And I do mena immediately, as from what I inferred none of the ships other than Enterprise had their shields up.

If the Farragut hadn't been destroyed, then the E would have heard them on the channel when Uhura was trying to pick up some traffic. Instead she heard radio silence. Why? The explanation on screen was that the other ships were under attack. This armada included the Farragut. Thus, the Farragut was destroyed.

Why do you have to be the only poster here who isn't ... able to follow a plot without having every single detail spelled out?

If you hold out a rock and let it drop, while at the same time turning around. Did it really hit the ground?

We also didn't see the baby Kirk grow into Cadet Kirk. It was implied by both of them having the same name that they were the same person.

It might be his transporter accident twin, Tiberius Kirk.

How do you know the Farragut wasn't just maintaining radio silence so the Narada wouldn't hear them? Ever think of that? :guffaw:

I thought there were multiple Kirks, since the actors looked so different.

I think that contradicts the explanation given on screen that there was no communication because the other ships were under attack. BTW, what's funny?

Only the ships at Vulcan were under attack. Not ships in random spots in space.

Man I hope so. I'd love to see her come back as a background character and have just a couple lines in the next movie.

They should bring her back. The main cast only has one woman (Uhura). We need more womens on this ship!

Well, the Farragut left before the E, so it can be inferred that it arrived first. Had it chosen to divert course, the E would have picked it up when it was monitoring the channels. Moreover, it would have been logical for the Farragut to alert any other ships that it had figured out that they were headed into a trap. But the Farragut didn't. It is reasonable to conclude it was with the fleet and was destroyed.

How do you know that the Farragut didn't figure things out at the last minute, like the Enterprise, and put its shields on. Once it realized things were hopeless, it warped the hell out of there.

Since the Farragut wasn't destroyed onscreen, we do not know what happened to it. Case closed.

If it arrived at the same coordinates as the E, a reasonable assumption, it would have engaged the Narada. How do I know this? Because no Federation ship would cut and run when Vulcan is in jeopardy. To suggest that it would is counter to what we know about the conduct of Starfleet.
