What happened to the USS Farragut?

Reasonable assumption: U.S.S. Farragut was at Vulcan, and got fragged with the other ships there.

Possibility: Some crew (including Gaila, please) escaped in shuttlecraft and/or escape pods.

Probability: Many of them ended up escaping to Vulcan, and died later anyway.

But not Gaila. She was in one of the shuttles that beamed up a couple of Vulcans and ditched when the stuff hit the fan.

Kirk might have served aboard the Farragut during one of those cadet internship thingies they always seem to be doing in Starfleet. One theory mentioned in another thread speculates that Kirk could have gotten a field commission to acting Lieutenant while aboard (by Captain Garrovick, perhaps?) Not supported by anything, mind you, it's just speculation, but that might ease the blow of the insta-promotion, if you had multiple Starfleet captains saying "yeah, this kid is that good."

As for Uhura, I don't think she was disgusted by the Farragut; rather, she was pissed that her secret lover Spock didn't think to make sure she was posted to Big-E. (Hmmm, distant, unemotional, doesn't think about what she needs/wants.... methinks that relationship is toast.)

Moreover, it would have been logical for the Farragut to alert any other ships that it had figured out that they were headed into a trap. But the Farragut didn't. It is reasonable to conclude it was with the fleet and was destroyed.

If it arrived at the same coordinates as the E, a reasonable assumption, it would have engaged the Narada. How do I know this? Because no Federation ship would cut and run when Vulcan is in jeopardy. To suggest that it would is counter to what we know about the conduct of Starfleet.
