What happened to the "improved" Voyager technology?

How would a "new" uniform use up more replicator rations than an "old" one?

I thought they didn't have any laundry-type things in the future and just replicated a new set of clothes (as and when needed) instead of washing their old ones...

Maybe programming the new style into the replicator was too much of a hastle.

Or maybe the new FC uniform was armored or had some other more energy-intensive upgrade.

The continuity can be (and is) preserved with the time travel episodes and easily can be explained to fit with the rest.

It's the writers fault who paid little to 0 attention when it came to tying it all together.
Sticking to stand-alone episodes is fine, but at the very least have the writers review some of the stuff they did to avoid potential conflicts.

Yeah, I think the continuity in Voyager got real bad in some episodes

It's just like any other "tech of the week" in ST. Seen once, inexplicably never seen or mentioned again.

Happened countless times throughout all 5 series.
