What happened to "The Gray"

Yaknow, you might be right...

They mysteriously disappeared as soon as everyone started carrying around cameras in their pocket.

Obviously they went wherever sasquatch went. They finally took their chance to "get away from it all" and had a destination beach wedding.

What if the Federation annihilated all "The Gray" in some previous conflict and that they now are trying to hide all evidence, just like the Enarans did in the Voyager episode "Remember"

I have some pet plots surrounding the Greys. In my stories humanity publicly encountered them shortly after the Vulcanians arrived on earth. But they're been experimenting with humans for much longer than that. There were circumstances which cause them to be perceived as enemies until about the early 22nd century. And yes at some point their homeworld was destroyed.

I include much of the UFO mythos in my Star Trek stories. The Ashtar command, reptilians, Brotherhood of Light, all that stuff. Of course it's tweaked a bit. In some of my stories the Unarius Academy of Science is a large human organization in the mid 22nd century.

The Gray come from another dimension, and are malevolent. Starfleet forwards all possible cases to The Department of Extra-Dimensional affairs.

I like to think UFO mythology in the universe of Trek receives great historical and security attention-physicists, historians, S31 operatives, and various conspiracy theorists probably study and devote a lot of time to theorizing and speculating about these alien beings in earth's 20th and 21st centuries.

They were one of the first to buy one of them iphones. So they were able to phone home. And nobody has since heard or seen them again.

They got a sweet deal from MGM to work on Stargate SG1.

(They like being called "Asgard" now.)

Of course they want to be called Asgard now. Thanks to Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, and the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok, the name is totes hot right now.

The grays were last of a dying race with a dead homeworld. They came here looking to resettle.

So, they got here and found sapient life. They had two choices, blow us up from orbit or kindly offer us their advanced technology in exchange for shelter.

So we took their technology and blew them all out of the sky.
